Suggestions on what A-spec lip combo to do... I'm torn
Hey guys,
I have been looking at so MANY of the absolutely sick looking TL's on AZ and I've been extremely envious of quite a few of you guys (especially the WDP's). I recently found an 08 WDP base with 126 k on it and I had to snatch it before I would probably never have the chance to get into another one here in OK. It hasn't even been 2 weeks since I brought home the love of my life and I have quite a bit of goals I want to accomplish on the aesthetics portion. First and easiest would be the tint. Next and what I need the most help on is what a spec lip combo (as in base front+rear OR type s front+rear OR type s front+base rear....etc.) would look best on WDP. I am aware that Type-S a spec lips will need modifications! I have tried to learn as much common stuff as I can before I get bashed from you veteran members lol. I am leaning towards Type s front+base rear. Would be a great note to add that I plan on getting quad exhausts but that's quite a bit of time away as I'm a college student that wishes he could go for free.... my first piece to get will definitely be the front, the rear a little later and then the sides.
Thanks for taking the time to check my first post. I hope to learn A LOT more from you guys

Welcome to Azine!
I'll just say that depending on your exhaust preference... you'll probably need the TL-S rear A-Spec as it has bigger exhaust ports [thus allowing you to accommodate a wider variety of exhaust tips]. Otherwise, you'll be left with small quad-tipped exhausts/exhaust tips like the RV6 base.
From there it's just a matter of preference (unless you're into doing custom work on the base rear-lip).

Yeah now that I think of it, you're right. So would you suggest I stick with the base bumper and modify it to fit the Type-S lip or should I get a whole rear TL-S setup? I think I'll just modify the front lip to fit.
Btw man I checked out your whole progress thread and your Flickr page (found it pretty cool you're a CanadiAsian hahah) I gotta say.... ABSOLUTELY CLEAN. The color you chose to repaint it makes it probably the most unique TL I've seen so far.

Like 04K said, it depends on the rear. Since you are leaning towards the quad exhaust; the easiest choice will be the the type-s lip. The front is up to you bro. Get the one that gets you off the most
TBH, doesnt matter which one you go with because the end result=SICK
Also, make sure you handle your maintenance over mods since you are at 126K.

I appreciate the input! So I think I've come to the decision to go with the full TL-S a spec after thinking about what exhaust options there are. But if I have to wait a while on getting quads, should I put a hold on getting the rear lip? I've seen a pic of the perfect example of what a WDP would look like with the TL-S lip with base exhaust... Some might like that look but I wouldn't be able to look at it the same...
yeah about the maintenance, I've checked all fluids and it seems I need to change the ATF. And seeing how this is my very first new (new to me. And considering that it's less than 10 years old) car, I plan on putting the good stuff in it like Royal Purple and I'm still looking into Redline
(hope I don't annoy anyone with additional questions. I don't know if I should make another thread) what would be an ideal quad exhaust? Like I want the nice aggressive sound and performance increase but I also use my car to take my 3 other family members around so I don't want to be on the highway and 2/3 people (my little sister and mom) complaining IF there's cabin vibration and noise to the point when they can't hear talking. I don't have any personal experience with exhaust systems so I won't know what to consider. But from what I've been reading and stalking on, XLR8 and ATLP seem to be popular
OP stick to redline. Read up on some threads like I hate Cars has posted....very informative.
Exhaust, well there are numerous of threads on that same question so please don't start another. Anyway, you seem like you are on the right track. XLR8, ATLP, RV6 are the best of the best and make sure you get one with the resonator. Find YouTube videos to get a baseline of the sound that brings your ears to orgasm.

I will also say that, the type s front looks much better in person than on screen. I was also stuck between the two but after seeing a type s in person the decision was made. Especially after it's lowered.
You have a base model though, so it'll be cheaper to do the base kit, since you don't have to swap front bumpers (not sure if rear swap is needed - search). Both kits look killer on a TL. It's a good looking car with the a-spec body kits.

There's actually more work to fit the rear tl-s aspec than the front. The rear you will need to do some cutting, easiest thing to do is cut the exhaust ports bigger (and not the entire lower section).
I suggest getting the full kit, its cheaper that way and you get it over and done with. No waiting for the rear

So you think I can pull off the base exhaust+TL-S aspects rear look for a little while?
Lol that's REALLY hard to do here in OK since I've only seen 1 TL-S and he's kept it stock. And there's another WDP base with the base a spec kit. THEN there's a black or gray (couldn't tell. I was working and I saw him park in an empty lot. Hopefully he's on here somewhere and he sees this so I can check his car out) which I couldn't see if he had an a spec kit or not. He might have since I saw he had a pretty sick stanced setup with either green or blue wheels. Bottom line anyways is that around here, I don't think there's many people who can appreciate the potential a 3G TL has lol
But back to the TL-S a spec, I've seen so many pics and a couple videos.... I'm absolutely going for the TL-S kit
