Stupid window question

OK...this is going to sound stupid, but I'm serious...

I'll occasionally drive my cars with the windows down and moonroof open when the weather's comfortable and not too windy. I've never given it any thought in either of my Toyotas or my Dodge.

I opened all four windows and the moonroof last night whilst I was driving the TL. It wasn't at all windy, but as soon as I got up to speed (around 40MPH), the gusts in the car were excessive, much more so than I'd experienced in my other cars.

I guess I'm just wondering if it's something about the shape of the '04 TL that sets up extreme turbulence with the windows and roof opened. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon especially compared to other vehicles they've owned?

Just curious...

Regards,

.....when my car is hot and I open the driver..passenger and sunroof windows.......the car cools down like no other I have owned, because of the breeze that blows through.......very noticable!

I've noticed that I can't stand the windows open at speeds where I used to Drive my TL-S w/o wind gust problems...

i think some cars are just designed such that the wind gusts are more tolerable than other cars. My TL-S was much better about that... my maxima is also better than the '04TL in this matter...
You're not alone, i noticed this in the first few days of ownership.

It's quite annoying sometimes.

Definitely annoying. Another drawback of the windows is that if you are driving above 40 or so, don't expect to be able to hear your music unless it's at 30 or so.

thats wat i have been saying... if this is such a good radio.. and it is when it comes to clear crisp sound. but damn.... my dads 1997 Ford Escort sounds louder.. when i open windows, i need it at 30 and i am afraid to put it more for the long run, might blow speaker or something.. thats why i was thinking of buying new speakers for the whole car, then i was told all these complicated isssues that might come up in the blue tooth threads and navigation "adding a new sub....."

Thanks for your replies.

I'm glad to see I'm not imagining things. I guess I'll avoid having all windows opened at once.
