Low I believe. Lower gears.

I think it works the same way as Drive, but it keeps it at a lower gear ( higher RPM ) so you have a little more control / torque.

Basically, 1, 2, 3... maybe 4 but 4th is direct drive.

L is like 1st gear.. like on the old 4 speeds it was..

P
R
N
D
D3 (3rd Gear)
D2 (2nd)
L (1st)

? right.. ?

So in theory if the TL didn't have SS:

P
R
N
D
D4
D3
2
L

Since Type S Fan didnt want to... here ya go

Low (L) When you move the shift lever to this position, the transmission shifts to the lowest gear that can be selected without exceeding the engine redline. At normal speeds, it selects third gear. As the vehicle slows, it selects second gear at about 56 mph (90 km/h), and first gear at about 29 mph (47 km/h). Accelerating in first gear, the transmission upshifts to second gear at about 37 mph (59 km/h). You must move the shift lever to D for the transmission to upshift to third gear. On Type S, at closed throttle, it selects second gear at about 61 mph (98 km/h), and first gear at about 37 mph (59 km/h).

ok that helps me A LOT!!! and thanks A LOT !!!

now i have another question...

on the M mode. when you start driving from 1st gear, will it automatically shift to second? or you have to press "+" in order to shift to second?

i know i have to press "+" to shift, from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th.
but it will automatically shift from 1st to 2nd without me pressing "+"
is that normal?

^^

That depends on the year.

'04 - '06 will shift to 2nd on their own. You can hold first longer by using full tyhrottle, but it'll still shift on it's own.

'07 - '08 will hold 1st until you shift with the paddle/shifter. If you don't shift, it will bounce off the rev limiter until you do.

As mentioned previously, this is in the Owners Manual under Driving --> Shifting. Post back if you don't have your Owners Manual and some one can post a link to on-line Manuals in PDF (I'd post a link, but the url is saved on a different PC).

Well then, even the on-line manual might not be much help - lol.

I think I answered your original question, or at least partly - how the TL shifts is based on the model year.

BTW - thats a hell of a conversion. Nice job.
