To those with 07-08 5AT TL's...

I have a favor to ask. Next time you're on the highway, select sport shift mode and put it in 3rd at about 60-70 mph. Then floor the gas and watch rpm as it passes the 5000-6000 rpm range. I notice that when i do this the needle seems to pause for a split second when it hits 5000 and then again when it hits 5500 rpm(at 5500 it even sometimes looks like the needle goes back for a split second and then proceeds to go up as normal). This doesnt happen in auto mode, just ss. It also doesn't feel like the car is hesitating, it seems like it's just the needle. If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Okay.
3rd gear.
60-70 mph.
5000-6000 rpm.
Needle supposedly pauses at 5000 and 5500.

I'll prolly be on the highway tonight.
I'll try to remember to check.

It's a bit hard to notice, but if you pay attention it's fairly evident.

I looked. I didn't really notice any abnormalities.

The only abnormality I noticed was...

Well, clear open interstate road, no cars at all...

I took it up to 130.

It didn't want to budge past 130, and I think it still had power to go.

Speed limited for 130? My 4 Cyl Accord did 130 lol.

Are you sure it's not the Vtec kicking in at that RPM? I know ours is supposed to kick in the 3 thousands, but maybe your Vtec is lagging.

Mine doesn't do it, dropped it to 3rd gear, took it from 60mph to 80 (5000rpm) and then to just around 90 (5700 ish)
Didn't notice anything. Tried a few times.

No idea what top speed is, round bay area there aren't too many roads to try it on an still keep a license :-)

Note this is a '08 TL-S 5AT

I'm thinking it might just be my tachometer. Because in park if i tap the gas, i can hear a faint clicking noise from the tach as it climbs. Like the motor in the tach is grinding slightly or something. It's weird how the needle issue only happens in ss mode and not auto though.

I think these are both 6MT, but I am sure others have posted 5AT's (even the 2G) in excess of 140.

I've had mine up to 130mph but it seems to lose a lot of steam at that point is why I asked. But I am completely bone stock.

I have a 08. Tried it yesterday. Went into SS mode downshifted into 3rd and it kept pulling past 5500 with no pause.
