Sorry to see that people would actually stoop so low and steal items like these, hope it all works out for you.

As for your insurance:

Yes, your insurance monthly premium is going to rise (probably not alot). Will they cover these parts? Yes, IF they knew that you had the parts on the car and you have proof (pictures or records of install). No, if they have no record. If no, the best thing you can do is tell them that your stock parts were stolen, an agent will come out and have those parts appraised, you'll get a check in the mail about 2 weeks later. Most places will try and recommend that they pay a specific shop to do the repairs (so they can hike the price, win/win for both insurance and auto shop), so try and get them to mail you the check for personal repairs. Good luck!

Sorry that happened to you man. I also live in the south ozone park neighborhood. Their have been lots of thefts in this neighborhood lately. I know of at least two people of have gotten their rims stolen (infiniti, nissan rims) They also tried to take the new toyota camry rims off my neighbor's car. But something scared them off. They also burn cars in the back of my neighborhood. I live in the wakefield section.

Our neighborhood is very close to the belt and the van wyck so they can easily get away.

I dont see why you can just stick something in there to lift the tabs. As for the pins.. they couldve just stuck a thin saw blade in there an cut it loose. If they used a jig saw type thing, all the pins couldve been cut in under 2 minutes.

i understand what youre saying but is this not a 3g tl? so with a hood closed and plastic cover on, say they did cut the pins being plastic that MIGHT be easy but maybe easier said then done, and say they cut the tabs then somehow snaked somthing into the hood and had the leverage to pop the tabs without leaving even dirt on the hood on top of the grille? the least youd leave is a damage pressure mark on the paint where the tool was inserted or where the tool was used to produce the leverage needed to pop the metal tab in my opinion but someone prove me wrong cause id like to see if you really can do it

Exactly. I'm sure they're 'professional' thieves and had a fat little toolbox (stolen) filled with sweet (stolen) tools.

I doubt anything will stop someone like that.

Around here, someone had their cats taken off their car a couple years back. This was in a lit, busy place and as far as they know the car wasnt even put up on jacks.

Just have to know what you're doing.

easy to hide/resell a bumper than trying to resell an entire car

And our van was broken into a few years back. Only thing they took was my CD player worth <$20.

They don't want the car nor did they likely want or care about the bumper, all they really wanted was the lip IMHO. If you look at the other stories of this, the cars are left perfectly and just the Aspec stuff is taken.

I think its someone with a regular TL trying to do a Type S conversion, just my

I work for a huge auto insurance company. Trust me, if you haven't gotten their money by now, they smell BS. Expect a call from an investigator - he will want a recorded statement from you to lock you in to everything you've already said.

My condolences... I can't say how I would handle the situation... No amount of money will ever make you feel better about being stolen from. Hope it all works out for you.

for those that are doubting this poor guy im sure it would not be a joke if it happened to you. now i have a friend who does repos and ive seen him stick his hand up the bottom of the front bumper and pop the hood of a locked car, so it is possible they didnt need to force the hood but they might not have planned for the rest so i bet if this guy takes BETTER PICS then you would really see the aftermath of this hideous crime. I just bought an a-spec kit and my tl is also black and now im scared to put mine on after see this post.....
