The plastic part is not my concern, but this is: climate control button --Acura TL NEO-WEDGE BULB (8V 120MA), the second bulb --Acura TL BULB (14V 60MA). Leds are all the same at that website. Could I be in trouble if the LED is designed to work 9~14v?

^^Looks like a good find.
Try the NEO3-xHP series, as they have a 120 degree throw, which you will need in some locations to prevent hot spots.
I'll have to pick up one or two to check out.

they do according to superbrightleds specs, but are too tall, 12mm. The low lumen has some extra epoxy-- hopefully 2 mms, highlumen can't be filed down. According to their specs mAmps are around 17, voltage 9-14... so the real mAmps are within (amps are within OEM bulb specs ), bulb life is going to be longer. Lumen! 900mcd to 4000mcd for for rated voltage 9-14v. Am I right? Higher the voltage of the bulb relatively to given spec(which is 8v in our case)-- lower the output(light).
That other bulb rated 14v oem should be "a drop-in", besides the physical dimension issue.
If I am wrong...

^^That was the problem I had with the ones I got from Oznium.com---they were physically incompatible. I guess it wouldn't hurt to order a few of each to check them out---under $10 experiment. You may have to do what I did and manufacture your own using the stock plastic parts.
User Six Sigma BB would be better suited to answer the technical electrical questions for you. We have another thread on this topic here:

I have received replied from AutoLum and SuperBrightLEDs: they are not helpful. Can someone merge all 3 threads?
I think spec-wise LEDs are OK and won't cause any issues if they draw less then 10mA(per AutoLum) and 10-17mA for SBLs. So is anybody ordering those? for trial?

***UPDATE***

Ok so I finally took my car into the dealer to fix the interior lights since I hit 49k miles. I also wanted them to fix the seat heaters since they weren't warming up anymore. Tech screwed something up when removing the passenger seat and ended up damaging the SRS wire cable causing the SRS warning light to come on. Car was at the dealer for almost a week and I finally got it back yesterday.

Just today I just realized that the Heated Seat buttons won't light anymore (they were lighting up when I dropped the car off at the dealer) Anyone know if the VSA button is supposed to light up? Cause that one is out too now.

I'd also like a merging of threads on bulbs and how-to for replacing. Not bashing, just a little disappointed there isn't a better write-up for this already.

my left volume control and seek up/down buttons on my steering wheel as well as my left heated seat button have been out ever since i picked up the car but i never thought to ask the dealer to fix it. i figured i'd just tackle them when i get some time but now i see it's a bit of a pain

haha, my same buttons went out just after I bought mine. i think i also have a memory seat button out on the driver's side door out as well.

forgive me if it might take little time to get the write-up done...i'm only going through the process now, but not really cuz I'm hella sick.

my passenger side heated seat light is out, think ill wait for your write up before taking to the dealer. Just to clarify just in case i do take in, this would not be covered under extended warranty correct?

it never hurts to check.....one dealer even told me it wasn't covered under the factory warranty but they were wrong.

Check the 3G Garage for DIY #F-165---several threads there on bulb replacement with LEDs, but the instructions should help with OEM bulb replacement, too. We are making our way around the car and posting DIYs as we go.

Hey thanks...I actually already checked out the thread regarding the steering wheel, but I don't like the idea of taking out my airbag. I haven't really checked out the heated seat lights though, I'm thinking they definitely gotta be easier!

Not really. It involves removing most of the center console---storage bin, cupholders and trim. The reason I have yet to tackle it is because I want to run a bunch of cables for a CarPC, but either have not identified what I need to run or just haven't bought them yet. I only want to tear it apart once!

Actually, I think the steering wheel was easier.

oh boy, lol.....as much confidence as i have in myself, i dont think i want to take all that apart just for a lousy bulb! theres just too much room for error (breaking plastic, re-fitting pieces back together, etc.) so in order for the dealer to do it you have to still have an active bumper-to-bumper warranty correct? or is it covered under something else?

After seeing this thread I checked my car and sure enough I have about 4 lights out. The VSA, mirror heater button, trunk, and the mode button on the steering wheel. My car is out of warranty, so do you guys have an estimate on how much the dealer will charge to fix these?

how far out of warranty are you? Maybe the dealer will still goodwill this for you....it's worth a shot.

The car has 82k and I just bought it a couple months ago at a private dealership. Maybe I can call and ask tomorrow.

dude what are you talking about? The center console ones are CAKE. I'm just waiting for my LED's to come in from freakin Hong Kong to be able to finish this off and do my write-up. I know it's annoying to have them out, but if you wanna be patient I promise it'll be worth it.

The dealer will charge you probably $300+ to do the lights. You can do them yourself in probably about an hour or two...the only thing I can see anyone breaking are the airbag screws themselves. There's even a thread on how bad they suck.

I hate this "no edit after 5 minutes thing"...

Anyways, you pop the side trim off, unscrew like 4-6 screws in different spots, slide the whole back half of the console backward towards the seats, and remove the heated-seat switches with a tiny screwdriver.

lol sorry, I know. I can't wait to drive my car again too! It's just sitting in my driveway with the airbag, center console, and all the buttons removed.

I'm pretty sure the left side steering wheel controls/left seat heat light going out are common problems on the TL. My lights aren't out, they just only light up 50% of the time. Same with my sister's TL.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the frequency of use (like you'll put the driver's heated seat on more than you would a passenger). Anyways, at least the Acura dealership by me doesn't seem to care whatsoever.

The only thing I mayyyy not do is wire up a transistor to my LEDs. I don't think the steering wheel provides enough room to fit them in while using the stock plastic holder.

You should always use a resistor or you'll eventually burn out the LED. Mine fit fine. Check the 3G Garage for DIY F-165. So far we have covered the console switch, steering wheel, rear window switch and instrument cluster.

Honestly, I'm on several forums and I can't even find what everyone talks about with the garage. I click on garage and it brings me to pictures of members' cars. The site is ok, but could use improvement.

I've done alot of searching for the DIY and only came across a few threads which don't have anything I would call a write-up. But if you have the direct link to F-165, why not post it up?

good collection of threads...i'd rather put this up in the actual "Garage" or a different "Tech" section rather than how it seems to only be in a single thread.

I could touch up the write-up on these though to make it even easier for those that are scared.

Thanks

someone correct me if im wrong but this button is NOT suppose to be lit until pressed? i dont believe its a mirror heater button either, its a defroster for the moonroof. i could be wrong on that too. i have the same button in the RSX and thats what it does

The actual little mirror on the button is supposed to light up at night AND when pressed the little orange light will light up to indicate the mirror defroster is ON....lol at the moonroof defroster...that would be cool if our cars had that although I don't know why we would need to defrost our moonroofs unless you look up all the time while driving
