Steering wheel column noise

Steering wheel column noise
I am getting a noise at speed, esp when surface is less than perfect, coming from the steering column, underneath (seems like near where the tilt/telescope resides).
Hard to describe, but it's sort of a squeak, maybe like what little metal spheres in a metal container being shaken would sound like.
What is this? More importantly, does anyone else have this? And MOST importantly, could your dealer find, reproduce, isolate, and fix this?

Definitely NOT keys. Not sure about the column vibrating/rattling. I didn't think so, but will check tomorrow.
It happens when driving on roads that are not buttery smooth, over say 20 or so. It did NOT happen when new (800 miles, 2.5 weeks ago).
You can hear it with the stereo on, if it is low. Definitely when it is off. It has a fairly high frequency (translation: it's VERY grating and annoying).
