Starting it up

I wasn't sure if everyone w/ a TL knows this or if this even happens in all TLs, but when starting your car you don't need to turn your key all the way like a normal car. Instead insert the key and just click they key into the starting position (instead of turning and holding for a few seconds) and it'll start right up. I found this out accidentally when my hand slipped when I went to start my car but then it started anyway and ever since I've always started my car like this.

Just a random tip

Seems to be more common on a lot of cars, both domestic and import. I'm not sure why.

only the 07-08s do this.

The 04-06's you have to hold the key all they way through ignition.

If you read the features of your car, this was a big feature in 07 and honda touted and screamed it

I loved that feature on my ex 07 TL. I got so used to it that every time I was trying to start my 01 Audi A8L I would not hold the key long enough for the engine to start up and I would always fail starting it up at first time lol

The feature is not present on MT Type S models, but nevertheless is pretty cool. I wonder if this is because of the different starter.

Im confused by this post.......what does OP mean by not having to push and hold key. and that clicking into starting position will start the car?

Straight from Honda's Mouf!!

KEYLESS MEMORY LINK AND ONE TOUCH START

A new feature for automatic-equipped TL and Type-S models is One Touch Start. The driver simply twists the key in the ignition to the "start" position and releases it, and then the TL engine will continue cranking until it has started. In the event of a problem, the One Touch Start system will stop after 8 to 10 seconds of starting and will display a warning on the MID system.

with my MT, I have to hold the key in the start position ALL the way through the ignition sequence.
with 07-08 automatic TL's, crank once and let go.

both of my cars crank right up when I turn the key so this feature really has no benefit unless the car takes longer than normal to start.

^ You may think that to be true, but try and only tap the starter, which you'll be able to do and the car won't start, but the '07-'08's will.
