Sprint doesn't currently offer a Bluetooth compatible phone. I went by my local Sprint store earlier this week and the salesman thought February 2004 might be the earliest that Sprint would release a Bluetooth compatible phone in the US.

So far only AT&T, T-Mobile and Cingular offer bluetooth phones in Houston. I don't know what companies are servicing the Irving area these days. Sprint and Verizon have been very slow to bring a bluetooth phone to the market. They are too busy selling camera phones and walkie talkies, but if you think about it, bluetooth doesn't generate revenue, but the camera phones do. Hmmm.....

The Treo 600 with the Bluetooth SD card might work.

As far as I know Secure Digial cards won't work with the Bluetooth handsfree link interface. They are made to interface with printers, computers, other PDAs, etc. I don't even think they work with Bluetooth headsets. You need more than just the Bluetooth card to have this work, you need software to drive the interface between the phone and the TL, which you don't get just buying a generic Bluetooth SD card.

This is a shame too, because the new Treo 600 is really cool. A nice combination of a PDA and a phone. Hopefully future versions of the Treo will have Bluetooth. I don't understand why they didn't include it from the start, but if you check, Handspring sells their own hands free kit....

Below is a response directly from Sprint. Not much help though... still don't know a date.

"This is in response to your inquiry regarding the Bluetooth
technology.

Currently, we do not support Bluetooth technology. Sprint will soon be launching the Sony Ericsson T608 phone which has built-in Bluetooth technology. More information about the phone launch and compatible Bluetooth accessories will be forthcoming as the launch date gets closer.

Thank you for contacting Sprint.

Ridge B."

BlueTickHound,

At least you got a reasonably positive response from Sprint. Verizon won't even comment. They probably think Bluetooth is a periodontal disease....

You may want to keep an eye out for comments on Sony Ericsson phones. I've seen reports where the T610/T616 has a possible echo problem when used with the TL. Hopefully the T608 won't. Also there is a T630 coming down the line from SE. Hopefully it will fix the T616 issues.
