Special Order from Dealership
Special Order from Dealership
Hello all, I'm new to the forums and plan on purchasing a 08 Acura TL Type S. The problem i'm facing is none of the dealerships in my area/region has a White Diamond Pearl with a manual transmission on their lots or on order. My question is, how much bargaining power do I have if I am to order this from a dealership instead of a car off the lot? Maybe some examples of others who have gone through this could list their prices?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Well with the new 09 models coming out in the early fall, not sure if the dealership are still accepting orders for a 08 model. You can certainly find out from your area's delaerships.
I would say you have more bargaining power if they have a car in their lot that you really want since they want to reduce their inventory; you still have some power if you can negotiate with them before you place the order.
Good luck & you will certainly like the type-s once you get hands on the steering wheel ...

Since the OP is in Iowa- they may want to look for dealers closer that have the combo in stock
If you know exactly what you want- start emailing each dealer and asking for stock check.
Or CALL and speak directly with the Sales MANAGER not a sales staff person of any type- who wants 2 grand from you for answering the phone~
Managers look at total cars sold- not individual prices
Car sales are slow- someone has what you want without shipping it 2000 miles!
Tell them you are ready to buy from the place that has it in stock- not shipped!
When shipped they have done a dealer to dealer sale of the car- and the dealer you pick up from is going to want their commission on top of the other guys while claiming they got you a greeeeeat deal

Thanks everyone for the advice. I did send a few emails outside of Iowa as well to dealerships and one told me that they did a stock check for 9 major Acura dealerships in Illinois, they could not find one with my specifications. Maybe my best bet is to negotiate a deal first with my local dealership then either have them order one or locate one at another dealership to trade for.

I went with Blueac's advice and I received some quotes and did some negotiating between a few dealerships. I haven't played the game of can you beat x dealership as of yet, I'm still trying to get them their initial lowest price then ask them to beat their competition.
One dealership I was quoted at $34,200 that is including the cash back incentive along with $750 destination charge.
Another dealership I was quoted at $33,832 this is including the cash back incentive but I do not believe they are including any destination charge.
Do you think I can do better then these prices? I have countered once with an offer 1k below those quoted numbers but they are saying they can't go that low.
Thanks.

bargaining power....let me start by saying "U HAVE THE MONEY THEY WANT!" and ill finish by saying theres no such thing as "SPECIAL ORDER" its an acura not a bugatti. whats special about it is that they have to travel 100 miles to go pick it up from the other dealer.
