A-Spec suspension question

Just ordered an A-spec suspension for my 04 TL AT. Thinking about also upgrading or changing out the sway bars. The Manual cars have a larger swaybar but are the mounting points and drop links the same?

Thanks in advance.

BTW just ordered it from Sunnyside Acura. They had a couple AT sets left.

GTFish, please post a review of the A-Spec suspension once you get it installed. By the way, where are you getting it installed? At a local shop or a dealer?

Not sure about the MT swaybars. I would guess that it is mounted at the same points, but I have not heard of anyone getting it done...so I'm not sure myself.

No. Different part numbers. The stock springs are different too - probably due to weight differences. I'm guessing that's the case with the A-Spec components too.

They seem to have different part numbers, so most of us have assumed they are different. When I was calling up different dealerships to see if they sell the A-Spec package separately they did differentiate between the auto & manual.

edit: oops. didn't catch Aegir's post.

I am probably going to do the install my self and take it to my trusted tire/alignment shop for an alignment afterwards. I have done a fair bit of work on suspensions in my race car and think I can do it on my own. It is a good stress reducer (well, sometimes!).

I was thinking of doing just the stiffer rear swaybar to help dial out the understeer. The sway bars are cheap ($40 or so) but not sure if they will need different droplinks or bushings, etc. I will talk to the local parts dept and try to find out.

$700 + shipping. Another ebay retailer would sell it for $600 but I had to get the AVSES100 tires and A-spec wheels. I wasn't crazy about the tires nor the rims so I passed on that deal. I will probably get some Volk wheels in the near future.

Looks like the links are the same (from the drawing, please double check). Just bars and bushings. That makes it a pretty inexpensive upgrade.

Since we were speaking of sway bars for a minute...I contacted Rob from Comptech. He stated that the Comptech rear sway bars were released. They are $110 and they come with two rubber bushings. The bars itself are 22mm.

I know that the 6MT stock rear bar is 20 mm and I believe the AT bar is 17mm if I remember correctly.

Again, I haven't heard of this before my conversation with Rob today. Has anyone swapped out for the Comptech sway bar yet?

Has anyone installed the A Spec swaybars themselves?

What kind of performance can I expect?

Are there back only upgrades, front also?

My local dealer says no alignment needed. I think it depends how much of a drop there is, and the 1/2 inch or so from the A-Spec doesn't need either alignment or a camber kit, like the 2 inch drastic drops for Civics and Integras...

There is no such thing as A-Spec swaybars. There are 5AT swaybars and 6MT swaybars, but not A-Spec swaybars. And now we have comptech swaybars. I will certainly look into installing those. I had considered using the 6MT swaybars on my 5AT, but not anymore.

Come on Comptech, let's get the ball rolling on more stuff for our cars!!!

Interesting. I will find out but anytime you lower the suspension you are changing camber, which changes toe settings. It may no be enough to make a noticeable (driving) difference but I would be surprised if it was still within spec.

On my 911 if you remove a shock you absolutely have to re-align or at a minimum mark all settings to get the alignment correct.

Is the $110 price for both sway bars or just one? If only one, is it the front or rear?

Sorry I wasn't clear. It is just the rear sway bar. And it is $110. I included Rob's e-mail in the "Comptech Exhaust" thread, but I'll post it here as well just so I don't forget anything.

Dear Sir,

The rear sway bar kit has been released. The price for the kit is $110.00.
The kit includes two rubber bushings and a 22mm rear only sway bar. The
exhaust kit should be release towards the end of next week. The price for
the cat-back is $1095.00. It is a full TIG welded stainless steel system
with 2 1/2" piping and 4" round rolled edge tips.

The supercharger kit should be released towards the end of August. I don't
have any specs on the horsepower or torque yet. Hopefully in the coming
month I will have more information.

Thanks,
Rob Maraglio

Thats funny - I emailed sunnyside acura and they quoted me 800 + Shipping for the A-spec suspension.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Are they trying to rip me off? Or just prices raised in the last 7 days ?

Just ask him for the same deal I got. My guess is that it is a supply/demand issue.
