A-Spec Badge location?

Hello Acurazine, I am new posting in the forums but not new to the site. This site helped me make my decision to buy my second straight TL. Just tradeded in my '03 TL S-Type that I truly enjoyed for the last 4 years.

I just recently purchased my '06 TL and the dealer wanted to put the A-Spec badge on it since I upgraded to "most" of the A-Spec accessories and I asked them to just give me the badge and I would put it on.

The reason I did this was because I have seen it positioned in a few different places on TLs that I have seen here on the site.

My question is... where do they put it if you get the entire A-Spec package? The instructions in the Acura parts box for the badge state 1.25" from the corner of the trunk and 1.25" up from the bottom of the trunk in the lower right corner. Is this correct?

I know alot of people are into DE-badging their TLs but that's never been my thing and I will not do this to mine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes it is correct. I have seen some placed just below the TL which I thought looked nicer but if you follow the Acura Instruction what you see in the picture is correct.

My TL has that badge at the same location.

To be technically correct, the badge seems to be a little to high.

The instructions state 32mm from the right edge and 32 mm from the bottom edge.

The beauty is you can say screw it, and place it where you want, with pride.

I placed the badge per the specified instructions, then de-badged the ACURA and TL upper badges.

Here's the page from the installation instructions, just so everyone can see for themselves.

Screw the lower trunk location. The only place that ASPEC emblem belongs is right under the TL emblem. The lower location looks out of place and ruins the symmetry of the rear end.

Certainly put it where you want, but I think putting it under the TL emblem clutters up the back. I've seen some photos of that here, and it looks a bit gaudy IMO. The OEM location gives all that excess badging balance.

Question

Resurrecting this thread.....

When I picked up my 2007 TL-S, I grabbed a booklet from the dealership that shows the A-Spec packages for all the 2007-2008 models (Acura reorder # E 5727).

One of the first thing that I noticed is that all of the A-SPEC badges are shown on the lower-left of the trunk lid rear.

Here's a scan of the TL Type-S A-Spec from the booklet:

I think I like it, but it's a big change from the OEM position on the 2004. Not only is it on the opposite side, but I think it's a little higher. This might be because the RL already has a badge on the lower-right (SH-AWD) and Acura wanted to standardize the location of the A-Spec badge.

Does anyone on AZ have a 2007 or 2008 A-Spec installed by the dealership? I wonder where the dealership put the badge?

I know someone who modified their grill to remove the middle part of it and instead put an a-spec badge off center, it looked awesome.

When I ordered my 2004 TL Aspec I wanted them to place the badge according to OEM. They placed the badge in the bottom left corner. Its different from others and I liked it.

If you don't put it in exactly the right place, you won't get the advertised gains in horsepower.

LOL seriously guys, it is obvious that the manufacturer spent time and energy analyzing the BEST location for the emblem considering optimum exposer .... and HP gains obviously. hahaha just picture being that guy printing up that diagram for the aspec label. haha so lets not screw with what OEM placement states haha j/k

... then again, that would defeat the purpose of this entire forum completely

Another bump for this thread....

$18 for the badge...! No wonder it didn't come with my suspension-only kit (bought at healthy discount).

My own feeling is that these badges are crude advertising, and the car looks great without them. Putting the "TypeS" badge next to the TL puts it precariously (and awkwardly) close to the edge of the trunk lid. :thumbsdow

Putting the "A-spec" badge somewhere off by itself is also kind of dopey. The fact that different installation guides specify different places proves that the designers couldn't give a weak fart where it goes ... it's a gewgaw that doesn't even have to be there (will it increase resale value? NO, the kit and components will).

This is why I debadged my TSX ... the two rear "Acura" and "TSX" badges broke up the simple elegance and symmetry of the car. It looks great without them. Would I pay $18 to put the A-spec badge on somewhere, even discreetly under the license plate overhang? Probably not. I like that the car looks benign and stealthy without the advertising. So ... I could see putting the badge on the dash trim by the glove box. Let the "special" emblem go discreetly inside. My .
