A-spec ?
A-spec ?
Okay I have my TL on order for mid August and now I am looking around for a good deal on the A-SPEC package and have come across one. Now my dealership is telling me that they will match the price but I need to get it installed by them thus pumping up the price to a about the same amount they told me it would cost me for the kit plus install. Now they are telling me that if I install it mysel, which is pretty simple to do and something that I want to do myself, that it would void my whole warranty. I don't see why. It has nothing to do with the engine. The body and suspension yeah but not the engine. Is this true or they just feeding me a bunch of B.S.?
They are blowing smoke. The law says that "aftermarket", which this is NOT, equipment cannot void a vehicle warranty unless it is proven to cause a problem. End of story. They're trying to rip you off. Just get the kit elsewhere and install it yourself if you're adept.
Welcome to A-TL.com, by the way!

Don't let 'em off too easy. If you can work a low installed price out, it's nice to have someone else do the work.
Your overall car warranty should be unaffected regardless off who installs the parts. As far as the A-Spec parts warranty goes, if installed at delivery Acura has pledged (at least in their advertising) to cover all the A-Spec parts for the full factory warranty period. If you installed it yourself, the parts would be covered under the factory accessories portion of the warranty - one year. Realistically, the components included in the A-Spec kit should not have a high failure rate, so I think it is a moot point.
