Speaker grille question

Anyone know if the front door speaker grilles can be popped out w/o taking off the door panel? And if so, how to get them off w/o damaging the aluminum ring?

Thanks!

I'm 90 percent sure your looking to remove the entire door. It is 4 screws and should not be difficult.

Anyone know how to remove the center channel speaker and plug the hole with the same rubber painted dash material?

I don't listen to DVD-A's and thus that dust catcher is just an eyesore. Unless the navi speaks to me from it?

Just throw that shag carpet "dash matt" that you purchased off Ebay back up there and forget about it........

Who the hell can tell if you're joking about this one? Yes the Navi speaks through that center channel.

So, from the lack of responses to my original question I assume that either: no one gives a shit, no one knows the answer for sure, or in fact the speaker grille cannot be removed without taking off the whole door panel.

If anyone has any definitive info, like from the service manual or personal experience, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again.

Door panel has to come off, the grill is integrated to the panel.

I too was wondering how to remove the center front dash speaker grille also. One corner on mine is popping up and was wondering how hard (or how much damage) will happen if I (or the dealer) tries to fix it?

BJ...........I think in order to match the high quality of the rubber and to achieve a perfect color match you must purchase another TL and carefully cut pieces away from the "new" dash to achieve the perfect fit for that factory look! Maybe you could send me the new speaker grille since you won't be needing it!

Grills

TLGator:

You're welcome.

Matlana:

Looking at the parts breakdown the grill appears to be held by spring clips and lifts out of the top of the dash. Let me check the service manual and verify the method for removal. Some of the dash pieces require special hook tools to remove. The speaker is attached to the grill with screws.

Thanks for the info, Kosh. It looks like if the dealer has the special tools he won't make it much worse!

Center speaker grill removal

Mattlana:

No special tools needed.

Instructions say to carefully pry up on the grill to remove it. A wide, flat piece of plastic should work.

Hear me out on this as I think it might solve both our problems:

1. Using the center speaker grille in your car as a template, place it on the dash parallel to the existing speaker but centered over the glove compartment. Use an X-actoİ knife and carefully cut out the rubbery material in the shape of the speaker.

2. Place the center speaker grille back in place.

3. Send me the piece of rubbery material.

4. Look in your mailbox for a package from me.

5. Remove my speaker grille from the package and place it into the cavity created by your X-actoİ surgery.

By the weekend, you will have a trick dual-center speaker 6.1 DVD-A system and I will have a deaf-mute voice activation partner.
