Something to compliment the cracked dash!

Happened at work. Went to my car at 3:30 to get some change. Get back to it at 5 leaving work and find it like this. Security patrol guy was nice and tried to help but was pretty much usless, and they don't have cameras.

I already filed a police report but they said they won't do anything because there are no leads whatsoever. Going to drop the car off tomorrow at the repair shop to get it fixed, hope it doesn't take long. I hate rental cars. I forgot to take a picture of it, but they fucked up the B pillar, looks like they tried to get in that way with a crowbar or screwdriver.

They took my cheap ass radar detector (iCobra) and my Acura booklet with my manual and radio code and some car papers etc. That is it. They left a full change tray and my Oakleys. The radar detector wasn't actually up since I had my sunshade up, but I'm guessing they thought it was a GPS device of some sort.

Normally I would be really pissed off (well I am a little of course) and really anxious, but with past experiences like the hail damage, I'm taking this pretty damn well. The worst thing is the rental car imo.

If only I could say 'oh and they also used a knife and cut my dashboard for some odd reason...'

Geez, that really sucks. I hope it all gets fixed soon and made like new again. So the break in was just to get your radar detector? All thieves should be shot.

Pretty much. But all that was showing was the suction cups. Maybe they thought it was something more expensive than a radar detector

Dammit...sorry dude
Same thing happened to me as well, because of a cheap Cobra radar..

Make sure you clean the interior (under the seat and inside the vents) because they don't go in details...usually

nobody said thieves like this are smart. they aren't. anything they can get for free and turn a few bucks on is more money than they had to begin with. at least no one was hurt. sorry about the car. i'd be weary over those guys taking your manual with all the car's info in it.

i've had bad dreams a few times where i've come back out from somewhere and the car is gone.

Sorry to hear, every city should have bait cars to get thieves, so at least they feel some what scared.

Your location shows as DFW, what part of DFW did this happen? I'm in DFW as well.

Hope the window gets fixed and your back to normal asap!

I honestly am not sure. If there would be any address it would be my parent's address. But I don't THINK there were any papers with an address on it.

The shop said it could be done Friday at best, but most probably early next week. Oh and all the rentals they had were big ass trucks or an SUV so I took the SUV. Chevy Captiva. Not bad, definitely better than the past rental cars I've had.

At least my deductible is only $50 for this.

I agree with everyone else. Make sure they don't hit you at home.

About the rental car... I LOVE rentals, even the Cobalt/cheapo rentals. I'm sure you can find a way to enjoy the rental if you put your mind to it.

Got my car back today; done in 3 days! I did have to go vacuum some tiny glass pieces that remained. AND when they brought it out I saw a light scratch about a yard long on my hood and was like that was NOT there, fix it. And they did.

Other than that it looks great. Total cost was like $770 lucky I didn't have to pay that.
