Someone talk me out of it......

My '05 6mt TL reached 40k and it's Summer and it's the wife and me, the kids...GONE..., so I found out that my company gives me a discount on Nissan products and the 370 Z caught my eye....I love the TL and have learned to work on it, it still turns heads and well....I have the new car bug...
Here is a picture of my TL...someone talk me out of buying the 370 Z....

I don't know much about the 370 other than its a nice looking car. My only advice would be to stay away from first model year cars. I believe the first model year will be 2010, I'd wait for the 2011's. They seem to work out the kinks in the first model year and have them fixed by the second. Just my 2 cents.

Is your TL fully paid off?

Why not hold onto both?

If you have the money, go for the deal, you won't look back, unless you feel you've spent too much money regardless of the discount.

Drive it to see if you like it.

My TL lease is coming up, so I test drove the G37 6m (sedan)-- the constant vibration of the gear shift annoyed me greatly.
Several of the G35/ G37/Z-owning CarTalk denizens confirmed that the shifter vibration was 1) normal and 2) annoying, to the point that I will not consider a manual for the G or Z.

I say buy a blower for the TL and have some real fun. The 370z is going to be pretty expensive regardless of discount. 10k for a blower and some exhaust and you are driving a F-1 car.

You guys are a bunch of help....lol...thanks for the reply's, but the GT-R is out of the question. I will test drive a Z tomorrow and will keep an eye out for the shifter issue mentioned above.

If all goes well and the deal is made (I'm shooting for $17k for a trade on the TL ) , this is the color combo I want and yes it would be better in Black but after having a NBP TL, I swear I will never own another dark color car, it's too much work to keep it looking good....

I'm going to have to agree with Integra on this one. It doesn't appeal to me but whatever floats your boat. If anything, I would get a 350Z. Or like many, a r35 would be nice especially for someone your age haha.

I am not satisfied with the overall construction of Z's, my friend has a 350HR and while the car is fun to drive, the interior is not even worth mentioning. They also do not have a good overall reliability rating, taking you another step down from your TL.

If you are looking for a sports car that is fun to drive and will land you a hand full of tickets GO FOR IT... after all if you're saving money on car parts, you'll have plenty left over to pay tickets, higher insurance and repairs right?!?!

Funny thing is that I drove in the snow with all rear wheel drive cars when I was in my late teens, Saab was the only front wheel drive car then and with the right snow tires and good judgement all was good, trust me I thought about that but you know I never drive the TL when it snows, that's the reason I bought the Rubicon and wifey works from home anyway so if worse comes to worse, I'll stay home that day..., right now I'm hoping I get what I want for the TL if not I'm pretty sure someone in the Blackmarket is looking for a 6mt, short shifter, Pirellis MS on stock rims, Enkies for the Summer and a AEM CAI for at least $19k and 40k miles....compared to what I've seen here some cars have 70k and more and are asking almost that....did I mention that all the fluids have been changed to synthetic and I have all the records, but I don't want Mr. Moderator to move this thread so let's get back to the topic on hand.....and yes Integra, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... ( go to the 4rth Gen and see some of the new TL's...I will say nomo) , you should see it in blue, my second choice...

You knew this was an alternate reality before you asked for help. The answer is always 'go for it'.

The TL looks greak is is barely broken in. It could serve you well for many years. That said, you only go around once and if you can easily afford to change, 'why not'?

But I will say why buy new? It looks like you have alternate transportation. How about a p car or a gently used S2k or g35c?

You know that I wanted to stay with Honda, I looked at S2000's and these are very expensive even used, down the street there is a 2004 with 70K and they want $18k, and I wont even talk new...
An edmunds comparison between the S and Z was crazy, you get a lot less car (maybe more established and it's a Honda) but without many options. The top end Z , Touring with a sports package comes in at at least $2k below the S, go figure. But nothing is carved in stone, I posted this thread to get some views of members who may have had dealings with a Nissan product as well as opinions of the TL...and I thank you all, but since I have the week off from work I will take the old lady ( wifey not the TL ) and pay a visit to the local Nissan dealer and see if indeed I'm making a mistake...

Instead, go for the G37. You need a little car with a bit more sophistication at your age. LOL.

Buy the Z. A used Porsche or Vette are good alternatives. A C6 shouldn't give you many more problems than the Z.
