Some advice needed

Hey all hope everyone is having a great new year so far! I have a few questions and also need some advice, so here we go

1) I've been working on sell my 2003 Civic for over a month now, bragging people I know to give them money if they get someone to buy it and what not. Autotrader, Recycler, Cars.com, Craigslist and another website. Also posting it on my myspace and signs on my car saying for sale. So far nothing, I started at what I thought was a good price and now I've lowered it A LOT since I've first started. Yes I know people don't have money but dang didn't think it was this bad. Any advice on this?

2) I've done lots of research on 2007 TL-S and im pretty sure this is what I want. Now all of a sudden I found out some have paddle shifters? Is this true or only on some? If so any pictures?

3) There have been a few TL-S in my area that I would think of getting one has 24,000 miles and going for $28,000 and at a none Acura dealer. I know this car has been on their lot since at least october or earlier and im sure I can bring that price down if so how much? :detective

4) The other one I was looking at EXACT same 2007 Type-S KBP automatic BUT this one has 47,000 miles on it and it's going for $21,000. Now do you think I should go for the lower miles one and save $7,000 bucks or whatever or get the one with less miles and spend more? The warranty will be almost up on the 47k one and this is at a whole saler if I remember correctly. I was trying to stay away from that high of miles, something with 30k and less. But the price difference is huge, and im pretty sure this is a clean title also.

5) I went to see the KBP thread of pictures and there wasn't many, if you have one post up and also is it hard to keep clean because I have black now and it's a female dog.

6)Heres a long shot, anyone in Socal have any Acura TL-S hook ups

So any advie and help would be great thanks for your time guys and gals

all auto TL-S's have paddle shifters...

Have you tried posting it on civic and rsx forums? The black market here? Newspaper?

As far as which TL-S I'd opt for the one that's cleaner and has low miles. KBP is an amazing color, look at it in person, you'll love it. With a car sitting on the lot that long, make sure it runs well, and you can of course negotiate the price.

kbp is a beautiful color, you will not be disappointed. and its easier to keep clean compared to black!

I would go for the higher mileage. This car will last a long time with proper care and maintence. And the other one has been sitting there for 4 months?! That has bad news written all over it, plus its not from an acura dealership.

what about the KBP is it from a dealer?

I got some advice for you selling your civic. If you got a university/college campus nearby, try posting an ad in their student lounges (ask permission first!). Where I go to school there's even a dedicated automotive wall that clears cars like craaaazy

That is great advice, what I will do is get some of my friends to take my autotrader print out to their school and see what they can do. Thanks

you know man, ive been looking for a third gen TL for awhile now. in my opinion, i would go with something acura certified. you might pay a little extra, but you'll have some peace of mind. dont they have a 7/100k warranty?

not that i know of man, the car would have to be sold from the dealer. i dont know if the lot would buy the car for their inventory, but if your heart is set on the on for 20k, then i would have the dealer or a private mechanic that you trust check it out for you. the dealer, that high line place, doesnt seem that bad of a place, but i.m.o., have it looked at if you want it. thats a lot of miles in a short amount of time unless its highway mileage.

Yeah I am guessing it's mostly highway miles. But im trying to stick away from that high of miles because of soon to maintainence and what not that will come up soon, reason why I am getting rid of my Civic too. But the price difference is huge. Im thinking of I can get the 24kmile one out the door for $25,000 I'll be happy.

if you have someone that is serious to buy it and live where you do, I can probably meet somewhere in between.

Regarding selling your Civic. It would appear that you might have it priced too high or something. The used car market (or any market actually) is very price sensitive. If you have a clean, well cared for car that is priced right you'll get plenty of interested buyers.

I have sold 4 cars private party over the years. I'll start off a little high perhaps 500 and then ratchet down by 250 increments in 2 week intervals. My cars are in pristine shape and all records are neatly presented along with car brochure. I always sell to first party seeing the car and it takes < one month and usually two weeks to sell.

You did not describe your Civic or give your current asking price, so it's hard to give you any more advice than this. With down economies, there is usually a shortage of good clean used cars so if your issue isn't price or car quality I would be surprised.

Update-Sold car today, went to the dealer with the 24k mile one they wouldn't work with me. So im going to see if they call and if they change their mind. Im going to see what the dealer with the 47k mile one can do, if it's a clean title and what not. I found a WDP Type-S with 48k miles for $25,000 at a Honda and asked if they will match price for the KBP with 47kmiles. So we will see. Any info I should need while im looking?

you can always go to edmunds.com and look up the dealer invoice and use that as a starting point, or go to kbb and look up private party value and tell the dealer that you are looking at one at a certain price but you would rather wait and take your business to the dealer. that might get them to lower the price. i found one online today on cars.com with 49k and she was asking 22k obo. if you can get it for 22-23 otd i would go for it. first, ALWAYS settle on a price, then go into the details of term and monthly payments. hopefully this helps, if im forgetting something, some please chime-in. good luck bro

Thanks for the info, yeah im working on price of vehicle first. Dealers want to know what you want to do as a montly payment, so than the can make the term longer and make more money.

I might of low balled them big, but hey they've had it on their lot since September AT LEAST. So I pretty much tried to get it for 300 a month 60month with 12k down. So the price of vehicle would of came down to about $22k. But they didn't want it. Has a little scrape on rear right fender above wheel (easy fix im sure) and a little stain on roof of interior( easy as well im sure) But we shall see what happens. I'll keep everyone posted.

It's 3am and I've been up since 9am on 4 hours of sleep, selling car and going to the dealer, so I am tired. peace.

Ok so far on an update, I have someone I know that's a whole saler and gets cars at auctions. He just told me today that at the auction there should be three 07 TL-S there. We will be going tomorrow so lets hope I find something I like and for the price I like.
