Solution to those butt ugly sunvisor AIRBAG WARNING stickers
- Buy some very thin, good quality hobby/craft wood (I bought some high grade balsa)...
- Cut it (1.5" X 6")
- Sand it ( #220 grit, rounding the corners and beveling the edges)
- Stain and poly it to ~ match the interior wood.
- Apply over butt ugly "WARNING" sticker using THIN, double sided mending tape.
The stickers will come off, but the heat-set glue they use to attach them will NOT. (And I tried EVERYTHING).
People with the "carbon fiber" interior can simply buy faux "carbon fiber tape" (which I've seen online), trim it and stick it over the "WARNING" stickers.

What about the (lighted) mirrors on the back?

Would the shop be concerned about potential legal issues???
Probably not a good idea if you are leasing. I am pretty sure that it is against the law in Canada, and I assume in the U.S., to remove these notices. I actually think this is a more serious offence than removing the tags re new materials from furniture.

You can't tell what kind of wood it is once it's sanded, stained and polyurethaned (3 coats and rubbed with steel wool). I've completed all steps but the steel wool rub; I'm letting the poly harden for 72 hours prior to that final step.
How "tacky" do those awful "WARNING" stickers look?
How "tacky" is the plastic "wood" that Acura uses?
Veneer is another option, though it will still require polyurethane (and perhaps stain to match the plastic "wood" Acura uses).

I'd wonder if the visors for the same car sold in another market, like Japan or Europe, would be plain and without the stickers and replacements could be ordered from there. Unfortunately, the TL is North American market only. There would be a chance another visor would fit, such as the one for the TSX or Accord, but manufacturers don't seem to standardize things that well.

Those stickers are AWFUL. They stick out like t*ts on a bull.

On the other hand, you're right about leased cars - very very bad idea to mess with anything in that case.
Here's a solution I found on another site (dealing with PT Cruisers) for removing stickers from that car without destroying the nap of the cloth:
I haven't tried it, so if you try it and screw up your visor don't blame me!
Mike
Edit: PS a couple of other people there said they used a hair dryer to accomplish the same thing.
Remove airbag warning stickers on sunvisors...
Use an iron set to medium and a damp white cloth. place the cloth on the visor sticker, and iron till hot-steamy.
Test the edge. With no resistance, peel slow while hot. WA LA OFF CLEAN...do not use the iron directly on label or it won't work.

I peeled mine off by hand/with no dryer/iron. They came off without damaging the cloth. The problem is with whatever glue they use (looks like it's heat set). NOTHING will rmeove it.
The WARNING stickers on my Z28 peeled right off...They were regular adhesive backed vinyl.

Sounds like a good approach for you.

It isn't any more tacky than the fake wood on BMW's or any other car. Personally I think it looks very classy and better than most.

Many "luxury" cars use REAL WOOD. Even the Lexus ES330 uses REAL wood.
I don't care if the wood is fake, if it looks good I'm happy.
Then that makes it simpler for TL owners; they're mounted on my sunvisors in my Accord (although the WARNING emblem is the same).

What you want is duct tape. Make sure you smooth out the wrinkles to give it that professional look.
