So I was curious to know what Acura charges to install the A-Spec Kit....
Gave my local Acura dealer a call just to see what they would charge me to install the A-Spec Kit to my SSM 05 TL.
You guys ready for this??:
$625.00 Smackaros!!
I read one thread where a dealer was charging someone $400. I called just for curiosity since I just recently got my A-Spec Kit delivered to my house on Friday but I haven't gotten it installed yet since my car is currently being worked on for minor details, once that's done I was planning on tackling it myself and see how it goes. I'm pretty timid of doing it myself as I have no experience in auto body alteration or add-ons, so wish me good luck..haha.
I thought that price was insane!! I mean I could literally use $625.00 for an exhaust setup or under the hood modifications.... SHEEESH!!

Yeah, don't get the dealer to put it on. Get a reputable body shop to do it. They'll charge less (hopefully.) Take a look at some of their work as well so you can see how decent their fit and finish work is.

Sideskirts are really easy, just remove some screws and unlatch the sideskirts and take them off. Line up the new ones with the plastic snaps and snaps in. Not sure about the 05 front/rear, but the 07-08 Type-S A-spec requires removal of the bumpers and some drilling.
I must say, what should be simple things are getting more complicated to work on as the years go on... i remember my civic lip literally bolted on with 8 bolts and you're done. I can see why a dealer would charge that much.
I say do a search and give it a go yourself. You'll be much more satisfied with the end product because you did it yourself (unless you screw it up. ).

DIY is the way to go, you get no weird gap and save you on some $$$.

+1 for DIY. I did it myself over the span of 3 days (side skirts, front, rear). Just take your time and read the directions and threads on this site a few times before tackling it.

This isnt suprising to me at all. The whole kit was in the neighborhood of $7k installed back in the mid 2000s. Its already been mentioned, but basic hand tools and a saturday afternoon is all you need to install the lip kit. Its VERY self explanitory and the PDF directions are available here on azine if you need them.

This bring back memories as I contributed the install instructions for the A-Spec Kit. The links should work for the front, side and rear. If not pm me and Ill email it to you.

I already have a spec front and thinking of getting rear as well.
BUT, Im not sure about the side skirts. Im finding it hard to see the difference between the stock type s skirts and the a spec.
Anybody have opinions about only having front a rear a spec with no side skirts?
better yet any pics?

Thanks for the input guys. I contacted Sick TLS per BlueAC's recommendation. We shall see what happens. But was wondering if anyone is in the VA side that can help?
