Slightly confused.....
I plan on changing my transmission fluid today and I read up which fluid to used and from what I see amsoil and redline D4 is popular but what the heck is 1x3 and 3x3 drains? Don't fry me lol I just don't understand.. Can someone clear that up for me? Thanks in advance

jk
there are about a billion threads on this. but basically a 3x3 is where you drain out 3 qts of fluid, refill with 3 qts, go take a drive for a few minutes cycling through all the gears including reverse, then come back and do another drain and fill, rinse later repeat until you get your 3rd drain and fill complete. that will give you a higher percentage of new fluid, and is the proper way to change out the fluid on our cars. make sure after you complete the 3x3 you check out the fluid level in the car. add more fluid if needed. sometimes during each drain, it'll push out more than 3 qts, so you always want to replenish what you remove.
if you have high mileage, over 100k, i would encourage you to do a 1x3 first, drive on that for a couple hundred miles and see how your car reacts to it. if all is well, go ahead and do another 1x3. at high mileage, your car has been accustomed to that partiular fluid for a long time and you don't want to shock the system by totally adding a completey different type of fluid.
i use redline d4 and racing. for a 3x3 i'd do 2 qts of d4 and 1 racing on each drain and fill, totalling 6 qts of d4 and 3 qts of racing total.
i'd also recommend doing the pressure switches and transmission filter. there are threads on this as well. just google it + acurazine at the end of your search and you'll find gobs of information.
Aw man I feel kinda dumb lol but thanks my car is at 86, XXX so I'll give it a go next week some time, would a local auto store carry the sensors? If not where can I get them for a decent price?
