A simple question so hard to find on these forums?

Simple Question:
How do I turn off my service message reminder on the Acura TL?

I got an oil change, but since I did not goto the Acura dealer and pay $99.97, I can't turn the message off and it's getting annoying.

Rant:
Why are not these simple newb questions answered in an orderly fashion here? I mean, for christ sake, I spent 30 minutes attempting to search/find/read over all the gargon and multi-colored rainbow posts your moderators like putting up as 'stickies'. The only thing I've concluded on these forums is that 99.9% of you are here to stroke your epeens with a homogenous set of cars, but then again, I'm the idiot that actually believed there may have been relavent information on these forums that might benefit a real person.

Did you ever think about sitting down and acutually READING the owner's manual that Acura provided you with? It's amazing what you might actually find out about your automobile if you had taken the same amount of time to read it than come on here and bitch.

Seek and you shall find...

Took me all of 2 seconds to find this thread doing a search. Makes me wonder if you actually even bothered to do a search before you posted your little bitch session.

You are soooooo right!!

It is a simple question with a very simple answer: RTFM!! "Read The --- Manual"

As for your rant
Yes - the search function can be challenging, but so is "refraining" while responding to ignorant rants like yours......

And yes, we are a friendly bunch here!! WELCOME

Cheers

Check the manual before anything else, it might answer a question or two.

Umm, welcome?? Your tone is not particularly conducive to a neutral response and is not an auspicious beginning for a first post.

I am pleasantly surprised that a full-blown has not started; I prefer not to be insulted when asked for help.

That said, your search terminology is key, as with any search engine. You need to use the terminology from the car's brochures and manuals with regard to features and parts you wish to research.

That means you must at times. One of the posters above was kind enough to put in a link, but the information you seek is also in the main owner's manual.

Ready for the irony? The search is so difficult because it pulls up worthless threads such as this, and people need to read through this crap before finding the answer to their question.

Puhhhhlease. You have to be blind to miss the "QUESTION? VISIT THE 3G GARAGE FIRST" Sticky at the top and even more blind to not see the "MOST COMMON ISSUES" section and the #6 bullet which says "RESET SERVICE REMINDER".

His rant was uncalled for when the damn forum is clear as day how to find a simple answer.

Now if he would have been polite, then there wouldn't have been this abuse directed towards him.

I personally have found this forum to be a great community overall, and I'd say that forum members make a great effort to answer questions in general, even if they have been answered before. We welcome new members and know that you'll learn a lot here. You can see by the unified theme in the responses that you were quick to pull the trigger on your impulsive emotion when you didn't find what you expected...but ironically what you did find was that we are "birds of a feather that stick together"
If I were you, I'd consider this lesson learned..all you had to do was say you just joined and you couldn't find this information..here's your chance to start again

This deserves no answer and no respect.

Plus the pot shot at the mods was pathetic.

Too bad there wasn't a button sequence we could have given him which resets his ECU to settings to something completely untuned/wrong for his car.

As others have said...it's in your car's manual, and you can easily find it though a search, or quickly though the 3gTL Garage.

I'm goign to go read some more jargon and go stroke some epeens

how much longer until ?

To prevent further abuse, and since the question has been adequately answered, this thread is now closed.

We are diligently working on a method to anticipate requests for information and have the answers posted at the top of the page before they are asked, and only regret we couldn't have implemented it in time to prevent the dissatisfaction our new member has felt.

Welcome to the forums and we promise to try and do better. Be sure and let us know if there is any way we can improve our services to our members.
