Thumbs up Silver is the best color!

Silver is the best color for camouflaging dust and light dirt.
Not only that, but I think silver is invisible to law enforcement for speed and parking infractions. I haven't been stopped or had a speeding ticket since 1987 while driving silver cars most of the time although I'm usually one of the faster drivers when traffic allows. Oh, and I usually pass law enforcement vehicles moving at less than 10% over the speed limit if traffic allows.
Last week, I had to stop at the county law library in downtown LA, so I parked at the last empty meter on the block at 3:45 PM. Walking out of the library at 4:30 PM, I noted that only 2 vehicles were still parked there-- my silver TL and a dark blue pickup. That's when I realized street parking was prohibited between 4 pm and 6 pm.
I looked at my windshield- no ticket.
I looked at the truck- ticket under the driver's side wiper.
Either the clean silver TL impressed the heck out of the meter person who decided not to ticket it, or the TL is invisible...

Yes, that ASM is really sharp.
Have always heard white is the safest...and never really liked it, but did seriously consider the WDP, but in the end settled on the CBP with ebony/silver interior and really love it. Doesn't show the mud too bad and is interesting, as it changes color with the lighting, but always an attractive color, JMHO.

Re. being 'reflective' of law enforcement, I wouldn't push it and wouldn't count on it, and there might be a few who would appreciate it if you didn't test this too much on public roads.

Heyy!! Are you a cop? Don't you have to tell us if you are a cop? LOL!

To the OP, silver is only the best color if you can't get Black (NBP)!!!!

this is my first silver car and i love it. always drove black, but i just love ny ASM with blacked out windows...i just couldnt take the swirl marks on a dark car, no matter how many 10 hour days Zainoing i did.

on a side note a clean black car with no swirls on a dusky night is the most attractive piece of machinery one will want. on the other hand a clean black car full of swirl marks on a sunny day, churns my stomach

You can put 7000 layers of Zaino on a swirled black car and all you have is a shiny swirled black car ... you need to polish out the swirls "then" Zaino it. "Then" learn how to wash/dry it properly.

true, but SSM and ASM are the easiest colors to maintain. i had a black vehicle before that was a bitch to keep swirl free........and I detail cars for a second job

its easy to lapse a few necessary steps, but with silver you won't get penilized for it.

actualy i do the whole breakdown process with all Zaino products(clay, swirl removers polishes etc..) and trust me i know how to wash and dry cars properly i use to detail. you will always get swirl marks unless you wash your car with a sprinkler and dry it with a hair dryer. its the simple law of friction, you can buy expensive chamois etc... but there is ALWAYS friction.

Once its polished swirl free if your washing / drying protocol is good and and your using the proper products its rather easy .. My last 3 cars were black and the last one a consistent show winner patially because of the paint and detail .

In the SF Bay Area Athracite is by far the most popular color. But I bought an ASM, because I thought TL looked best in that color. However, the TL looks good in any color.

So I have to drive to San Diego or Canada to get my car swirl-free? LOL!

I'm gonna use a professional and watch him like you said! By summer, I should be able to make it gleam on my own!

As to the thread - no contest - Black is the best! Takes the best pictures, has the best shine, just simply a show-piece! (Except in the winter when it looks ashy from the snow and salt!)

But the thread title is...........Silver is the best color!

There are 3 Anthracite TL's on my street - I have the only ASM. I do love how easy it is keeping the silver clean and polished. Owned a NBP Accord a while back and that was a real pain in the A$$ to keep looking good.

I read a study recently (can't remember where) that said that silver is the safest, and has far fewer night accidents. It something to do with silver reflecting.

Thanks,

This was back in Oct, I couldn't tell you what is was at that time. Nothing special though. Just washed and some instant spray wax called Final Detail that has something in from Dupont. I do use waffle weave microfiber towels for drying and the spray wax.

Here's my summary of how I would classify the colors that most people on this forum seem to have:

Black - sportiest
White - most elegant/luxurious
Silver - safest (not too flashy, not too sporty; a very safe color that almost everyong will "like")
Blue - second sportiest
Moroccan Red - second most elegant/luxurious; would be sportier if the red was different
Anthracite - second safest; virtual tie for sportiness with blue

I thought a lot on this forum also liked CBP? Sporty and elegant all at once.

This is what I think of black as well. Just think of the limos and the Benzs that you see with the black on black.

It may have been said earlier... But there are only two other colors that stay as "clean" as silver.

Red

White

I've owned nothing but Red/White/Silver cars for the past 15 years and there's no doubt these colors "hide" dirt/flaws.

I'm diggin my ASM, it is a much more brilliant silver than the Silver Sky Metalic on my Sequoia and Titanium Metalic on my x-Clamry.

I have maroon or blue cars all my life and sick of the constant washing. The silver is heaven, hides the dirt really nice, and the TL looks great in silver.

I was just making a list based on the colors that I perceived most members on this forum own. I didn't think too many drove CBP. Sorry if I offended anyone by leaving out that spledid color!

I disagree only because we're not talking about Benz or limos, we're talking about TLs. I think the TL's body isn't flexible enough to truly look sporty and luxurious; kind of like one or the other.

I have to agree with you on this. A black TL is when cleaned, is beautiful. I had a 05 NBP. It took WAY TOO much time keeping it cleaned, and I mean showroom cleaned. I don't have a garage, so this meant too much time each morning trying get it there. This also had something to do with my OCD, when it came to it.

My black is prettier. It's more reflective.. like a mirror. But the silver ones don't reflect as much. Even when it's dirty the black looks awesome. I get quite a lot of attention from people.

I got no speeding ticket either. I think the cops were impressed with my good looking car. A couple of times the cops saw me going a little too fast for the speed limit I was at but they just stare........ at my car. It looked so corporate, as if I'm one of those important people, or a governor or something... so they didn't feel like messin with me.

It's a beautiful, no doubt!

The study saying silver is more reflective, it meant at night, sorry if I didn't make that clear.

In my experience with the cops... You need 1 thing and need to do 1 thing to avoid speeding tickets.

The thing you need:

A late model vehicle that is not an econo-box like some teenager would drive.

The thing you need to do:

Ignore the cops completely, don't even look at them much less say slam on the brakes. I simply look (turn my head) in the opposite direction when I see them.

I regularly pass cops going the same direction, pass them going the opposite direction or pass them while they're stopped and I never slow down.

I think the simple act of ignoring them completely lets them know you are "someplace else" other than worrying about getting a ticket and they let you move on provided you're not a threat to anyone else (I'm talking 15 MPH over or thereabout)... Granted there are times people have been stopped and never knew there was a cop, so they were really ignorant of the cop and still got a ticket. But I think it works the majority of the time because as my dad told me growing up, "Act like you're doing what you're supposed to be doing and nobody will ever question you otherwise." This works in all kinds of situations... Like just now the boss stopped by my office while writing this post, he thinks I'm working on work stuff because I'm acting like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing
