Side View Mirror Complaint

Anyone else get blinded by the headlight reflection off of the side view mirrors? It makes regular (yellow) headlights look like their HID's. At first, I thought it was kind of cool because it made you aware of all the lights, but I wish there was a way to dim the mirror like you can do with the rear view mirror.

One of the things that the TL lacks is autodimming side mirrors. The Lexus ES (and I think IS) have autodimming on all three mirrors. Would be nice if the TL had that : /

I agree that it makes Yellow light turn into HIDs, but for me I prefer that as it gives me a better depth sense on where the car is in relation to mine.

The yellow standard headlights tend to glare and diffuse my vision a bit too much.

I wear eye glasses at night when drive and i hate it when I get reflection off the driver side mirror. Im thinking about getting my windows tinted maybe that would help.

I just looked at the sticker of my 05 TL, it only mention rearview mirrow as auto diming. Maybe you thinking of the heated power door mirrors?

Next thing you know you guys will be wanting the car to brake whenever is senses another car in front of you reducing speed and then speed back up once the car in front has turned off! Just "tilt" the mirrors down if they bother you. BTW - The "function" is part of the expensive "Distronic" option offered by Mercedes and it really DOES work but then again it's also VERY pricey. IMHO, the TL doesn't NEED auto-diming side mirrors. It might be nice but don't think Acura "missed the boat" or anything by not including them on this car.

But the side mirrors reduce glare a bit right? That's why they're blue?

I havent had a problem with it at night, even before we got the windows tinted.

There are at least 2 of us, so you aren't the only one.

I like the blue film/tint that they have on the side mirrors. For me at least, it is easier on the eyes, expecially at night. have you tried adjusting the side mirrors to pointing a bit more downward? or just to whatever position you are more comfortable with. Also, try adjust your seat position. Whenever I get glare from either mirrors (rear or sides) I just move in the seat a bit.

i have my windows tinted 20% all around and never notice ANY glare, whatsoever... I had the windows tinted the day after I bought the car so i guess I hadn't had enough time to experience glaring. I also wear glasses. 0 glare.

^ would have to be a light enough tint percentage to allow for visibility both day and night, but it can be done.

Oh, you mean like an RL and every other car with an intelligent cruise control? I expect the next gen TL will have that feature.

Make it three, I like the blue tint. It cuts the glare enough for me.
