Side mirrors

Im looking to upgrade my side mirror lights to super white to match the rest of the car lights. Does anyone know how to remove the lens without taking mirror off? Does anyone know the bulb size aswell?

It's not a bulb that you simply unplug and replace like your license plate lights or your interior bulbs.

I'm pretty sure you will have to take the mirror off the car in order to be able to work on it. You'll have to remove the old LEDs and solder new ones in it's place I think.

You dont need to remove the whole housing, just remove the mirror, and there is one screw that holds the light in place. So far i think i am the only person that has changed out the yellow to white light on the 3G but i may be wrong. You have to cut open the light bar housing to get to the LEDs then you have two choices, solder white ones in the place of the yellow ones (need three PLCC-2 and one PLCC-6 LED's). The route i went was to place a LED strip in behind the diffuser. If you want. PM me and i will give you steps in how i did mine. I did not take pics though.

Here is a pic of mine:

^ Your front switch backs look pretty bright. Where did you purchase them from? Are they 60-60 LED from autolumination?

I dont run switchbacks, I really do not like the look of yellow on the outside of my car. the turn signal look so bright because i had the blinker on and happened to get the photo at the point the turn signal was on.

So you are just using a WHITE LED bulb as your parking light and as your turn signal? I'm surprised that you haven't got pulled over for that, but I guess laws differ in IL.

What type of white LED do you have, can you link me? Or tell me how many LEDs it is? 60? 120?

I looked around and I think diffuser laws are actually federal.. i couldn't find any state specific laws.

A while back i looked up the laws for many states. Most states either specify white or amber/yellow front turn signals or do not specify. here is the thread i started a while back when I was looking up the vehicle mod laws. https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/vehicle-mod-laws-693568/ some of the links are dead but you can google the information for the dead links

Texas only states that the rear must be red, amber or yellow. There is no specification on the front signal

For the OP, i am from florida and according to Chapter 316.234 Signal lamps and signal devices, you need red or amber rear turn signals, and white or amber front turn signals

How did you remove the mirror? Is it just double sided adhesive?

I was running white turn signals all around my TL for a while and took them off recently.....got tired of the look. I was pulled over a few times and always had my blinkers on and the cops never said anything. I still run white turn signals in my E60...been pulled over in that several times and never did a cop say anything about my blinkers.

I see many cars around here (NYC area) white white turn signals, I even saw a car with blue led turn signals....no one cares around here lol.

in order to remove the mirror i used a screwdriver on the tabs holding it in place and slight twisting to pop them loose

I was wrong in this post with the LED types needed. You need (3) PLCC-4 and (1) PLCC-6
