Should I Mod my TL?

I have a full warranty until 2015, what can I mod that will not void it?

By full warranty, do you mean AcuraCare warranty?

If you have AcuraCare, aftermarket parts do not void your warranty unless it's something directly related to the failed part. For example if you lower your car with aftermarket spings and your stock shocks go bad, they will not cover it.

In response to above comment since this is exactly what I'll be doing shortly, are there any other parts that would potentially fail as a result of new springs? I knew I would lose coverage on my shocks, just wondered about other parts.

I couldn't answer that question for you since I'm not really an expert by any means. I suppose if you had aftermarket springs and your compliance bushings went bad they may deny that repair or at least the alignment. But again, I'm not an expert so don't take my word for it.

I wouldn't mod the car at all. Besides, the TL is everything you could ever imagine straight from the dealer!

I should do just small mods such as A-spec Kit, Lighting mods etc correct? Stuff like J pipes CAI, full cat back exhaust, and coils until the warranty expires?

Noel....essentially your dealer has to prove a warranteable part was a direct result of a modification you performed in order to deny your claim.

For example, if you added coilovers and an exhaust and then your interior lights stopped working, they would have to cover that under warranty. But if your compliance bushings went bad, the dealer could say that the added stress you put on your car from the lowering it caused this, and may not warranty it.

However, if you keep your stock parts around and something goes wrong and swapping it out isnt a big issue...hint hint hint.....you could essentially get everything covered under warranty!

Lights, aesthetic mods and a catback are not going to effect anything. Things like coilovers, swaybars (if you break an endlink or something), other suspension mods, and things like a lightweight crank pulley I would wait on until your warranty is up.

good luck!

Irrespective of the warranty, I wouldn't touch a thing.

I've modded cars, and daily driving a modded car tends to turn into a hassle. Stock makes things simple.

^....................ummmmmmm, there are plenty of things that will enhance the cars look and feel without every affecting anything....plus theres this site....i think its called Acurazine where people go to talk about how badass they have turned there TLs

I have a pretty extensive list of mods now (havent updated my signature in a few years...too lazy) and have had very minimal problems. Sure, I had to replace my axles because my CV joints went bad and recently my steering rack (fml) and I am sure its because I'm lowered 2inches that the problem came around sooner, but after a while those things will eventually wear and break even if you are stock. This is my only car and it is driven everyday....I had been from Indiana to NJ roundtrip 4 times, and frequently travel 4+ hours into Chicago and the North Suburbs.....no major problems yet for me but your choice OP!

Noel, most of the things that could possibly void your warranty are engine/performance related. If you do aesthetic mods, you run less of a risk of having problems with your warranty.
