Should I do the first oil change?
Should I do the first oil change?
So it's time for my TLs first oil change and I was wondering if I should get the first one done at the dealership or if it doesn't really matter and just go ahead and do it myself? The reason I ask is because of any extra checks or service history it may effect.
Also does it work out cheaper? I will have to buy the ramps, filter wrench, something to catch the oil, but thats just one time.
I have done oil changes myself before on previous cars I've owned and there is good instructions on this website.

check the owner manual maitenance schedule to be certain-
In the old days they checked under the car and engine for leaks or loose parts that happen during assembly- set tires- recheck wheel lug torque--all things you can DIY easily and better
Beyond that- from a legal point- keep the receipts for parts- write the date and miles on them and keep in a folder at home
Write the info in the service book just like a shop would- all warranty needs is proof the work was done on time- and engine probs are rare in the TL-
!!!!!Except 6 speeds that get overrevved and destroy themself!!!!!
When you register with acura there is a place to store maitenance log right with them too- thats great when you sell the car- the account has all the records as backup and shows your care put in the car- need your VIN to register
Check RECALL section after logged on- make sure to get your PS hose and wiper motor done- gen3, and gen2s have a few extended warranties as well
call acura and register on that seperate system too 1-800-382-2238 x5

Did he say "check the owner manual"? What an idea!!!
Great advice. Then get dirty. I would change it myself. TO AMSOIL 0-20! Stop the engine wear now! Keep your new motor much, much longer! Also, I would use there filter too (AMSOIL)! It's is one of the best out there. If not "the best" Enjoy.....
