meh. Not sure.

To save the image, you have to name it something. "sick" is a good as the next name.

The color of the so-called "dark rectangle" is consistent with the color of the rest of the empty space to the left of the numbers.

The "dark rectangle" is not long enough to cover a number; notice how long the "7" is next to it. It also doesn't look as wide as the other numbers and there is no white-ish 'remnants' at the edge of it.

Maybe it is photoshopped. I'm not convinced that it is though. What would the point be?

That's about 21 mpg, I assume mixed but mostly city. So the 1250 miles at $4/gal is about $240; 25% less than you estimated.

The cars in the article seem to be getting around half that in the city. I get ~18 mostly city.

On the highway, the TL-S will get ~30 - 32 mpg; the cars in the article ~20 mpg.

Besides, if you can afford some of those cars, you're not worried about the cost of gas.
I dont agree with you here...when the light comes on you have 3 gallons....and when the range goes to 0 you have ~2 gallons in your tank....

What are you trying to prove dude? Quit wasting everyone's time...

All images imported to a computer are given generic names such as DSC_02309242. When edited in an app such as Photoshop, the names are usually changed when prompted to save. The area of smaller pixel noise to the left of the 7 followed by the large dark block followed by smaller pixel noise again to the left of that really gives it away. Notice the sharp cutoff of pixel noise of the numbers below it.

You may be right but a crappy cell phone camera will do just as you describe on its own. Low resolution = blockiness and little gradation in contrast.

And besides, I always rename my files.

I do see that and agree it looks out of place. I just don't see why anyone would take the trouble and don't think jumping to conclusions is a good practice.

What about the length and width of the "dark rectangle"? Why is too short and too naroow to cover a number and the area below it is random noise? If you'd covered the '1', you'd think you'd make it all random or all the same, no?

IOW, if it's a hack job, shouldn't it be more like:

I do not see this photo as being altered. This is a standard cell phone picture format when enhanced to bring out the detail.

OP if its not actually edited, my sincerest of apologies. I still really think it is though. 7MPG at 33MPH doesn't make sense. 17MPG, sure. But the pixel noise in that picture doesn't make sense, even if it was taken with a crappy camera. I'm going to stop now as some of you have made good points regarding the possible validity and I'd hate to continue if the image was real and unaltered.

Thanks

No offense but Ron's calculations were wrong only because he said his fuel tank capacity is 19.5 gallons

he went 494 miles in 17 gallons which is a mpg of: 29 mpg....he low a low fuel light warning when the range said 37 miles and he went another 57 miles which is a total of 94 miles (94 / 29 = 3.2 gallons)....

so when the light comes on you have 3.2 gallons left and when the range goes to 0 (he went 57 miles....so 57/29 = 1.96 gallons left)....

how am i so sure about this ?

http://www.vehix.com/car-reviews/200...specifications

and

when my tank was done and I was on the side of the road, I put in 1 gallon in my car....drove it to a gas station around 5-6 miles in the city and filled up 16.3 odd gallons in....

incase my car is different....am sorry ron i said your calculations were wrong....i guess my car is just unique
