Sensor

Hey guys. Love this thread. I had to get password reset and wanted to ask this question. I have had my car for a little over a month 2008 tl. On the dash, there is two sensors. one is over the passenger side the other on the driver side. I can't seem to find out what they are for.

Just curious.

Thanks

The round sensor helps regulate the temperature in the "Auto" setting of the climate control.

The flat sensor detects lighting outside the car and helps regulate the auto feature of the headlights. (whether to turn them on or off)

+1

you can try putting your hand over the flat sensor and your auto headlights will turn on even in daytime.

its for the climate control. when your AC is set on auto, the car needs to know where the sun is coming from and adjusts the AC. here's a trick, if you turn on the auto AC in broad daylight, and then go into a parking structure or somewhere dark, you will notice the car AC will turn down to compensate for less sunlight

Temperature sensor.
Actually, it and the sun sensor are shown in the owner's manual section in the climate control section.
