Seems to be way too many problems with brand new TL

I purchased my TL not too long ago..... black on black 6speed nav
had 153 miles on it

Ive got 6000 miles on it now, and these are the problems ive had so far

1. Steering wheel had to be re-centered twice already
2. Fuel rail had to be replaced
3. Fuel injectors had to be replaced
4. 8 rattles fixed, and ive got a few new ones that i have a service appointment for already
5. Sub-woofer broken and was replaced
6. Now, to top it all off... my third gear is acting funny --> sometimes shifter seems to not want to go into 3rd, i have to wait a second, then try to put it in again, and it goes in fine ----> ive actually had it pop back out of gear on me a few times

Has anyone else experienced any symptoms such as these??
I really hate this....I feel as if I was talked into this car...i talked myself into
mostly because of the price....I was able to get way more car for my money, and i feel like im now realizing why

wow, Im surprised to see that list, I only had a rattle coming from the rear panel where the speakers are located and since I wasn't going to go back to the dealer and have them hold the car for a day I opened the trunk lid and put an inch of black foam I had laying around and placed it in between the plastic panel and the metal surface where the speakers are mounted, problem solved...I guess I'm lucky?...

Yeah that's about right... Look on the bright side.. you have yet to get the brakes serviced and replace the tires... Opps that's next month for you...

You shouldn't have to do anything to fix the design/build problems. As for the rear speakers they have been rattling since the 2g models. The loyalists will say nothing is perfect, but the reality of the best bang for a buck that people refer to here so often really means cheap...

The less it costs, the cheaper the parts, the more likely there could be problems.

That seems like a lot of problems for a car that is supposed to be Acura quality. I've only had a couple rattles over 12,000 miles and none of the other problems you mention. Good luck in getting them fixed. Hopefully the dealership is not giving you any problems...

5,600 miles. No rattles, no problems.

I have noticed the 1,500 RPM/60 MPH vibration, but it doesn't bother me enough to make a special trip to the dealer for the fix. I'll wait 'til the car has to go to the dealer for something to have that addressed.

Barring any warranty issues (none so far! ), I don't anticipate seeing the dealer for a LONG time. I did my first oil change, and plan on handling all of the maintenance.

Great car at a reasonable price. 15 months later and I've yet to see a new car that I'd rather have.

Regards,

At your mileage I felt the same way.

I'm at 6k and I have a headliner rattle, rear deck rattle, sometimes the passenger seat rattles.

I have brake pulsation, and I dont even want to think about anything else at this point. (maybe bad tire wear on the aspec)

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear all those problems dude... This question is kinda out there, but since you got the car with 153 miles, is it at all possible that it was a demo car and that someone accidented it? It just seems so strange that you'd have all these issues on a brand new car which for the most part is a quality vehicle. On forums such as this one you'll always hear more from the people who have problems, but the silent ones are the people who are very satisfied with their vehicle...

6700 miles and change, my car hasn't experienced any of those problems. The only thing that had gone bad for me was my HFL, which was replaced under warranty. My subwoofer only rattles when I crank up the volume.

I also have the same issue off and on with 3rd gear in my 05. It seems that if I put more effort into my shifting I have less of an issue. If you have the dealer check this out let us know what they say. I'm concerned about getting the good ole "can't duplicate problem" story.

the reason the car had 153 miles on it---- dealer sisnt have a black/black 6mt nav, so they traded with another dealer about 110miles away.... he was very dishonest about it too...told me that they would flatbed the car up here...but they had someone drive it up, that was just the first of my dealer sleaziness problems, but thats a whole 'nother threAD that i dont have time to start right now

11k~ miles on my 05 6mt... and I don't have any of the problems mentioned, 'cept for #6.

There are a few other members who are having similar problems as well... no one has been brave enough to take it in yet.

Hmm... I'd be willing to bet that the car actually was delivered on a flatbed but already had the 150 "demo" miles... My shrink says I have trust issues though...

19K here.......still solid, smooth, and rattle-free. Only problem I seem to have at all is that slight fading of the passenger dash.

Open the trunk and right below the wher ethe glass meets the body of the car you will se these openings that lead into the rear paneling ...now find a small piece of foam (1" or less) and shove it there placing in betwen the plastic panels and the actual deck...problem solved, no one will know it's there and with the BASS at 6 all you will hear is...BASS......

Have been planning on buying 06 next year... All these posts make me nervous... I know what some people from the forum is going to say:” People with problems more vocal... this is the place for complaints... Majority doesn't have any problem... etc." Not good enough! If you have that many people with complaints - that means something isn't right! 2nd Gen has only one major issue - transmission, which has been if not solved, than addressed (100K replacement warranty, oil jet. Personally went through two so far - last one 33K ago - no problem). And Consumer Reports (forgot what month) for the first time rated Acura TL reliability as an "average" - that should tell you something. Probably, will buy TL anyway… To summarize my uneasy feeling: before you have to be unlucky to buy Acura with problems, now you have to be lucky to buy without…

Honestly, I too researched 04 TL like crazy. I realized that a good number of people complained about the rattles they are having. But when I read some of the professional reviews, they said the car has great built quality. So I bought it even with all the problems other owners have stated. At the end it turns out that owner’s review is more reliable than professional reviews. So if you feel that you have to get lucky to get one that’s problem-free, then maybe it’s your “good” not to get it or maybe wait a little more.

I think we have over 5000 miles on our 2005 6mt so far, and not
a single problem with the car yet, and no rattles.

On the other hand, I cant wait for the stock tires to wear out...

pick almost any product: cars, cameras, ....

ck out a web forum for it

and if u base everything on what u read - u would be hesitant to buy just about any product

yes as u stated more individuals will take the time to post problems as compared to praises

The forum does at the least give u a "heads up" about potential issues

use the information and make your own conclusion

personally I have had no surprises

- yes tire life is short, an occasional rattle, that is about it

almost 9000 miles

I had two rattles in my car but they went AWOL after I hit the 700km mark. Now, the car is completely problem free.

I have had more than a dozen new cars, none have been completely trouble free. My '05 TL @/13,000 is so-far, one of the best. One minor problem with flatline temp., fixed for free. More equipment = more potential problems.

Ohhh no. Gen2s had more than their fair share of problems, believe me.

Very true.. you just don't hear about 'em 'cuz they are no longer new. I wonder how some of the 3G owners would've reacted if our windows trims (which were black on the 2G) bubbled up - they used "tape."

My 02 TL has had so many problems I feel like I need to cut windows in a car cover and leave it on it at all times... I'm embarrassed FOR Honda.

$5,000 in warranty work at 47,100 miles

Edit: and that does NOT include the transmission, which is original but dying as we speak.

Well, you may be right and I got lucky with my 2nd Gen (5.5 years and 81K so far), although I don't recall too many complaints (besides transmission) being discussed on 2nd Gen forum. But regardless how good or bad 2nd gen is, it doesn't make 3rd Gen any better - which is my biggest worry.
