Security Measures

I added some security measures to the car.

LoJack

They installed it REAL quickly and easily.. very professionaly.. with the early warning system.

Haven't tested to early warning system yet.

The only pain, is if you like to lock the valet key in the glovebox you can not if it has a LoJack Early warning device on it, since it will always be in the car and render the Early Warning system useless. You have to carry the Valet or at least carry another LoJack Early Warning Device.

Window Etch

This is where they etched some serial number in all the windows (very small and translucent on the bottom lip.

They said this will very much deter professional theives.. when they see those #s they know they can not do much with the car supposedly.

The Club

To deter joyriders, I have the CLUB for bad neighborhoods. I bought the PREMEIRE club which is actually the best (plus it is black like the interior of the car )

It has a key with variable cuts in it.

I know people say it is easy to cut the steering wheel, but when you live (or park) in an area where EVERYONE has a Club and you do not, I think you would be a fool not to at least have what the rest have.

The Security System

The built in security system seems great.. I have some questions if anyone has the answers.

1) Does it protect the trunk? I suppose ytou do not need it since there is no keyhole

2) Does it have any sort of shoc sensor if someone messes with or hits the car? and if it does its there a way to disable it? I do not think it does.

What are you security options? Take a bite out of crime!!

install airhorns and hide them in the engine and trunk. then add a hoodlock, so the theives can't get into the hood and cut the horn wires.

if you drive to a really ghetto area, and want extra protection just pull the ECU fuse

Mike I thought abot getting LoJack back in 1993 when I purchased my 1994 HONDA ACCORD but I just put an Alpine alarm in with pager. When I got my 2000TL in late 1999 I had already picked out my aftermarkt alarm system & the options I wanted to add to it. I went with a CLIFFORD ALARM SYSTEM now DEI owns CLIFFORD. It was state of the art at that time & still is better than most. I have the IG8000 model that came with built -in BlackJax anti-carjacking self recovery system This works if you are carjacked or someone just steals your car keys & remote someway. If they carjack you they can't drive that far before the car engine cuts off & they can't restat the engine. The engine will stop if the car is going at a slow speed. The lights will flash to warn other cars that the car is stoping . The alarm will then go into full mode siren & lights flashing. If they steal the keys some way the system will work in the same way as if you were carjacked. They have to enter your code or the car can't go that far before it stops. I also have Dual Zone Omni & Proximity sensors. This is like the shock & warnig sensors if your to close to the car or looking in the windows They can be remotley ajusted by you & have about 32 setting levels. I also have the Digital motion tilt sensor for the wheels. The siren is self powered & has battery back-up. I also have a pager & the PC interface that lets you change functions. The siren sounds can be changed to make your car sound unlike other alarm sirens I have about 16 sounds.

Wow, you aren't worried about having your car stolen or anything, are you? Geez, I'm surprised you don't have a MagnaVolt installed...

You can really go overboard in security doodads. If someone wants to steal your car they will regardless. The lojack is a good addition to the very capable factory system.

That sound slike a great system, but it seems a little overkill to me!

I live in a very nice suburban neighborhood (almost boring), but travel to DC, Philly, and New York regularly... which are extremely high car theft places.

Granted, I never had a car stolen but I never had a car someone would really WANT to steal.

People in nice hoods get carjacked all the time. They can be at the supermarket gas station anywere. BlackJax is built into the Clifford alarm & is very easy to use. The anti carjacking is set byitself you just need to enter your code on the plain view/valet switch to turn it off that lets the system know the car is not being stolen. The cost was about the same as a LoJack top of the line system then $650 installed. This stops the car before it can go very far it only can travel about 150 feet or maybe 2 city blocks.
The only way to really steal the car is to tow it away.
