Seat warmer

Does the backrest on the passenger side warm up, or is it just the driver's side that does it?

Its just the Driver seat with the back being heated. the passenger side is only a butt heater.

Only the drivers side. The passenger side does not have heaters in the seat back because of the sensors to detect passenger weight and position for the side airbag.

Yes, but other cars have the sensor and back heater on the pass side, it only seems that Acura/honda dosn't.

The quickstart guide that comes with the car documents the fact that the passenger side seat does not heat up the back.

yes it is, and they have a handy explination why they don't heat the back on the pass seat for this one too

Cut costs they did, that is why the car is less than 35k and has all the problems it does (for some). There is a cost to quality too.

I would have paid 1k more(my father would have paid 1k more) for fewer rattles, the radio title display, the heated seatback, autoleveling headlights, and TPMS(we got an 05 in july).

Hmm... I guess the salesman forgot to mention that a side effect associated with the technical difficulty of combing the sensor and the heater was that it saves Honda money.

Just the driver's side back. The back on the pass side has sensors for the air bags that cannot be heated up.

Which model year are we talking about? I have only used the heaters while driving so I hadn't really noticed that it only did it on the butt of the pass.

^ Talking bout the 3rd gen. Don't know about the previous gens.

The TL never claimed to be the best at everything, however it did provide the best value package to me. There are drawbacks of course.

The solution - don't ride in the passenger seat.

I would have paid a lot more to get an 8 way power passengers seat
(with heat), rain sensing wipers, better displays on the radio
and trip computer, and a remote built into the key.

I think most people would.

But the acura is just an accord really, the mindset at honda is not
as upscale as other luxury brands.

Crazymjb correct me if I am wrong but you didn't pay anything for your parent's TL yet you complain about problems witht the vehicle. You should be glad your parents will let you drive it, when you are old enough to.

In my father's 2004 TSX the passenger seat heater is only a butt warmer. (I hesitate to say "the backside" because, depending on what word you use for "butt," you might say the backside does heat up! )
