Known issue...

This is a known issue with early TL's. Take it to the dealer and they have a TSB to address this problem under warranty.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin

Sometimes when I unlock the car it doesn't switch to #1... After my wife has locked it with the #2 FOB. Anyone have that happen?

Is your keyfob linked? When you use it to unlock the doors, does the MID say "Driver 1 detected"?

Do we have a definative test for this known bug ?

If the symptoms are repeatable could you please describe in detail how to duplicate the problem. This would greatly help others diagnose the same ECU problem common to this model year.

Sorry if this is regurgitating old stuff but it may be useful to have links to a diagnostic for this problem within this thread. I fear I may need it soon as well.

Thanks

Yes. Most of the time, it does work. It's not worked probably 2-3 times. The service bulletin does not apply to my '05 TL #17700. Anyone seen this happen on their '05? So far it's not too bothersome, I just press the #1 button on the door and wait for the seat to move. Unfortunately my wife is pretty small so the seat takes a while to move into my position... But so far it hasn't happened enough to make me worry too much. Hopefully it won't progressively get worse...

On 6MT's: the parking brake has to be on between setting changes, otherwise you get stuck with your spouses memory settings.

Very interesting! Not gonna run outside, anybody know if this is documented in the manual? Or just a "feature" (read defect).

          My wife remembers setting the parking break because a co-worker was in the car, and she had to "be careful" since his leg was right there...

          Still kind of a mystery!
