Scrape

How many times did you scrape the black rubber under the front of your TL going up a driveway?

If it's more than once, don't admit it or you will be flamed.

Sometimes it's just unavoidable. It happened to me once, well twice if you count the one time it happened to me on my SSM 5AT. I avoid those ramps now.
The black rubber is designed to push the air up into the intake, I believe. Honda probably knows it's a little too low. They probably made it durable.

It's called the "air dam" or "air deflector".

I scraped mine once as well by pulling out my driveway onto the street - curb is like 1/2inch high to my drivewya entrance. now whenever i pull out i turn the wheel to the side so one fron tire touches the ground while the other is still on the curb.

well my parents are oblivious when driving my car out of the drive way. My dad is used to just going full front out because his 540i dosnt have the sport suspension so its higher then in my car. My moms car is so low, that when she gets into my car, she thinks its so much higher then hers, and it gos straight down, tanking it, so yea i have quite alot of scratches... on that black thing, i hope it dosnt effect anything to much.

I have the A-spec body kit and the front chin scrapes all the time unfortunately. The design of it, such that the sides flare out, make in impossible to scrape on certain incline/declines. I try EVERYTHING in my power not to scrape it in certain situations, but its inevitable.

However, the scrapes are not visable unless you stick your head under the car, so that's why im not too upset about it.

its just normal. there are some parkings that are higher than others. so when u park on a few that are low and then all of the sudden one high one comes BAM!!!. but i have done it like maybe 3 times. since then i have learned to go slow until i might feel something or if its obvious that i am good where i am ...

I've learned from driving a lowrider as a previous car... take everything at an angle.

yups...our cars are bottom breathers. the airdam helps push air up. i have scraped mine sooooo many times to the point that is does not scrape my driveway anymore. this used to happen even before i dropped the car.

well, i also realized that parking my car backwards into the driveway does not make it scrape.

The apron at the end of my driveway is angled pretty steeply and the road is seriously crowned, so it's hard not to scrape when backing out. If I turn the wheel just so just before the front wheels reach the apron I can avoid the dreaded scrape. It's all for naught, though, because my wife manages to scrape no matter what. One day the little rubber piece is going to come off and be left in the street.

This is what is keeping me from putting the A-Spec body kit on my car. I'd also like to do the suspension but that would just invite trouble.

Never on the driveway, but I have scraped in on a curb once while pulling into a parking space. The first time it happened (probably 2 weeks after getting the car), it scared the sh*t outta me. I thought I had just tore the bumber off.

Perhaps instead of a rear bumber sensor, they should install front bumber sensors/cams. That'd be helpful for people like me on those 'bad days' heh.
