The only thing I found annoying so far is the Sport Shift on the Auto. I put it in manual mode and then shift from 1-2 and the car has to think about it for a second before it changes gears.

Maybe my expectations were too high, I have driven a manual and I though this would be similar (it is not).

Overall a very minor disappointment in a very fine car. I love the rock solid feel of the car on curves. Very comfortable for long trips (Of which I have made several)

I am satisfied with everything but the position of the cup holders... this is my first automatic, but my brain is fixed on keeping my hand on the shifter... When I go to starbucks, the cups are in my way

My main gripe is that my wife drives it most of the time and can not fully appreciate all the TL has to offer. I ride my bike to a vanpool pick-up point so don't drive much. But on the weekends, she's mine and I just love everything about it.

well the things I don't like are,

1. had to switch out to GM Syncromesh fluid, just a PITA hassle yunno
2. no AC seats...we have the perforated leather, just put the damn AC in the seats?
3. although I've only been a passenger in my car ONCE, while at the dealer, how about a front passenger seat that is heated on the back and NOT JUST the seat? due to airbag sensor, but other cars can achieve this?
4. The leather discolors too easily from jeans etc...

other than that, LOVE THE CAR and everything about it.

...a few minor issues, similar to what's been posted a million times.

...A LOT of great points (the list is huge). Really love this car, plan on keeping it around.

I love the quick acceleration and firm feel of the TL. It handles great for a FWD and is also comfortable, quiet and has a much nicer interior design than anything else in its class. I like the exterior look and styling. I'm thrilled with the fact that it has not needed any warranty work. The Bluetooth phone HFL system works incredibly well, and Mercedes owners also turn green with envy when they see our Navi systems in operation.

I'm going to hate paying the cost of new W-rated 45-series tires when the MXMs are done...

I don't find this a problem, you may want to have the dealer look at it.

A few that I would like different, would be the cup holders, they need to sit lower and I wish the seats were tighter. I know the S has better seats, wish I could get them without the damn S emblem.

I test drove the ES350 three times, IS350 twice, A4, Z4 twice, 335i, C350 sport, avalon, '06 G35, RL, and TL twice. The TL offers the best value (what you get for the money). I'm very suspetable to buyer's remorse (for example the $600 watch I'm wearing right now). However, thankfully I don't have an OUNCE of buyer's remorse on the TL. It's pretty sweet.

I hate everything about my TL..kidding. The one real complaint I do have is shifting into 3rd gear can be a pain in the ass. Also, they could've chosen better looking rims for the Type-S. Other then that, I don't have any other complaints.

My only dislike is the blind spot being blocked by the front door frame, so I either have to really turn my head or move forward to see from the left side mirrow ....

Handling wise, great ride! Awesome ....

Like - Everything on this car ...... look, style, price, reliability, service, and all the goodies on this car...... most of all, the complete package.... unlike the other dealers trying to put everything in option (seats, radio, etc. "oh, you want the 4th wheel, that'll be extra... and you want windows too, $$$ ka ching" )

Dislike - almost non... 'cept it need the ability and easiness for the HU to be upgraded and take more forms of media (USB, SD, HD... etc.)... and get rid of the useless tape player...

I had a 04 TL, 06TL and now 07 TL.

- Love the ride. Love the way the car rides and handles effrotlessly.
- They just nailed the designed insode and out perfectly
- NAV is one of the best, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti lock out the touch screen when moving. Also the NAV screen is nice and big and clear, although the new Altima NAV has nicer looking maps and 3D mode, I assume th e08 Accord and 09 TL will add those features.

I have driven and owned many cars and granted I have never driven or owned BMWs or Benz or the likes, I find the TL to be a great balance of ride and comfort. Hell I bought 3 of them!

HATE the dam ELS sound system, weak and apthetic, my 07 Camry JBL blew the doors off it and th e07 Altima Bose is better. The ELS nees better clarity and depth as well as better low end through the power band.

Not a big fan of the back deck, under any serious bass it buzzes.

Love everything in my car except the fact that it doesn't play mp3s! I'm so jealous of the '07 non-navis because those dual screens look sweet! However, that'll all change once the CarPC is installed.

I still need to do the manual tranny fluid change to GM Synchromesh . . . just been too lazy.

hmmm i don't know if this happens to anyone else but...

i hate it when the TL downshifts on an automatic. It feels so uncomfortable... to describe it i would have to say it feels like a quick hard brake.

other then that i love everything else, i love the sporty drive feeling and steering!

Total package. Occasional rattles is the only thing I can think of. Overall, extremely pleased with the car. Will probably keep for 5 or so years and probably upgrade to the next generation.

I love everything about my car, especially the ACURA in the front bumber (BAD ASS), the only thing i dont like is the mp3. to have it i have to spend about 300 for an ipod and a ipod adapter. Love the Dolby pro 2, how many people can say that?

Other than the TL-S should come with 18's and lowered about 3/4" stock, I've got no complaints.

(Even that's not a complaint, more like a "wish".)

All around good value but, the manual transmission is really starting to annoy me. It is FAR too demanding/unforgiving and, without any engine noise, it is quite easy to not be paying attention and pull a bonehead shift.

Appreciate / Enjoy -
  • Soft, rubberized interior door handles - lovely tactile feel as you start the day with your car!
  • Subtle, understated interior - just enough 'wood'. No hard plastics, nothing cheesy. Complete opposite of most luxury cars out there, with acres of fake wood, light colored flimsy plastics, etc (Camry XLE being the worst!)
  • Gorgeous exterior - understated headlights, understated tail lights. Classy. Best looking NEW car on the road (new G35, with revised headlights, comes close). (still prefer classics such as the Legend Coupe, and old-style BMW 5's and 7's)
  • Stock wheels are pretty cool - no aftermarkets for me!
  • Voice commands and HFL - really works! May save my life someday (without me knowing it of course!)
  • Enough physical buttons (eg, fan speed up/down) despite presence of NAV system (many cars push everything through the touch screen)
  • Sound system - once you turn dolby off
  • MP3/WMA support, and Aux jack for iPod
  • Very quiet
  • Corners effortlessly
  • More acceleration and speed than I'll ever need

Dislike / wish it were better
  • Tape player (maybe the slot could be used as a base for a cellphone holder, or ipod holder, or something?)
  • DVD-A - not that it sounds bad, but it's the 8-track/betamax of the decade. They could have put the money into something else (like negotiating a lifetime subsription to XM )
  • No iPod interface - standard in (eg) a current model Scion TC (<$20k) (though Aux input will suffice)
  • Map presentation in nav system is outdated; not as good as my $400 Garmin Nuvi, which does 3D and better street presentation
  • Freeway ride - big bumps are ok, but every little surface feature transmits through seat and headrest. I've learned to drive with my head away from the headrest (I drive 100 miles a day on the freeway). I'm probably alone on this one, but I wish they made the ride just a bit softer.
  • Rattles - too many for a car of this caliber. The one near center speaker seems very common and easily fixed, so why haven't Acura fixed it.

All in all, I'm happy with my 10 day old purchase. I looked at Lexus ES350, Camry, Accord EX, Audi A6 Quattro, BMW 5 series (used, older style) to replace my 14 year old Acura Legend, which served me beautifully from new back in '93!

wow really great entries! i think steerpike has put so much info that nothing else needs to be said but im sure there is.

I read in other threads about the transmission giving out for some people. Anyone can confirm this? I use to have a 2000 v6 accord and my tranny gave out on me at 6 yrs and 8 months and at 93k miles so i was lucky. I would figure honda/acura would of fixed this problem by now.

bump. ive been reading so much about the tsx and tl's that i dont know what i want. Ive test drove like 5 used TLs now and havent had time to test drive a used tsx. but im still leaning towards the TL cuz i think it looks better and because it has more power and more room.

whats up with the auto trannys though?

What are you talking about? The backs of the seats are heated. Both the back and the seat are heated...your car might be messed up.

Tape player is worthless and the cup holders are in a terrible location, other than that I think that I like everything else.

I wish I got the manual also. I might still have my SOLD TL-S Auto.

Heard alot about 09 NOT offering a manual, like Lexus with the IS 350.

NO manual, STUPID I think, how will they ever compete with BMW if they don't

offer RWD or AWD and a stick???

I love my 07! I drove a Mazdaspeed Protege that had torque steer from hell and have felt none at all on this car. Car is nice and quiet, comfortable, stylish, not overdone. I've been wanting one of these since they first came out with the 04 model. I only wish I would have bought the Type S....oh well.

As far as what I dislike....I HATE the lack of supporting phones for the "Cellular Phonebook" import option.

Umm...a few discrete storage locations would be nice....can you tell I am reaching?
I really enjoy just about everything about the car...a lil' too much noise from the road gets into the cabin, but better tires seem to have helped that some...

I would LOVE a place for coins. Every other car I have owned has had a place for coins, and I miss it. Right now I use one of those empty metal mint tins to hold the change. I keep it in the bottom of the center storage area and doesn’t make noise, slide around, or spill coins...it works.

Do you not have the stock coin holder in the top center storage compartment?

I use the "Not an Ashtray" compartment in the back of the center console. So far - so good...... until it is time to empty it.

what about the 4 coin slotted holder thing that can mount either in the center console or the driver side map holder on the bottom of the door?!?! isn't that for coins?!?
