Provided the driver knows how to drive it, you'll get smoked every time.

I watched a whole group of them race at Gainesville and was amazed at the lackluster times they were running. Even the cars that looked hooked up were barely getting into the 14's. I thought they were much faster than that..I know that it depends on the driver but there were several I saw running 15 secs quarter mile.

car and driver gives following stats-

0-60 5.4 sec
1/4 mile 14.1 @ 97 mph

It would be unlikely that an auto TL would beat one, a six speed Tl vs S2k would depend on driver imo.

on a roll, the two are very much even with an edge going to the TL bc of the hp. But on a launch, the s2k will have the edge bc of the rear wheel drive. My friends s2k beat me off the line but i beat him on a roll (barely)

I actually raced an s2000...all he had was straight pipe and intake (so he said) and I have intake and headers. The first race he tried to launch on me and he messed up ...we were dead even that race. The second time we raced he launched his car at 8000 or 8500 (i forget what he said it is something like that...but what an idiot and that is his second motor because he blew the first one ) and that time he took me by like a car length, but in my opinion if he didn't launch I would have taken him by a 1/2 car or so because the initial acceleration on those things slow, not much torque...but then again I could be wrong...

oh and both races were from a stop... but from a roll things could be totally different in his favor

Depends on the driver, I have a friend w/ an 05 and runs 13.8 or 14.0 stock...so it really depends on the driver in my opinion but all in all I would have to say the s2k is faster, lighter car and has 240hp

ive seen this heavy modded S2K in San Jose that got close to beating a porshe, but if it was lining up against a TL the TL would get killed....

There Are Tons Of Mods For S2k's. You Can Blow Those Engines Past 500whp And They Would Walk A Stock 911.

I think an aspec can keep up off the line. I still think the TL is faster or par with the s2k on a roll

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however the A-spec has ZERO engine improvements from the Type-S. Imporvements include suspension, spoiler, side markers, two tone-seats, etc

Just from a weight to power ratio..

2004 s2000

Engine Size: 2.2 liters / 132 cu. in.
Horsepower: 240 @ 7700 rpm Torque (lb-ft) 162 @ 6500 rpm
Curb Weight: 2835 lbs.
HP to Weight Ratio : 11.8

2003 TL-S

Engine Size : 3.20 liters | 195.3 cu in. | 3201 cc.
Horsepower: 260.0 HP @ 6,100.0 RPM Torque 232.0 Ft-Lbs @ 3,500.0 RPM
Curb Weight: 3558 lbs | 1613.9 kg
HP to Weight Ratio 13.7
It seems likely that the s2000 would "comfortably" win that race, providing we're talking stock to stock. Plus the six speed manual, in the s2000, revs
to 8300rpms, with the fuel cut off being at 9k.

ok with that being said...keep the s2000 stock and add the horsepower and torque that cold air intake adds for the tl-s with the addition to headers....who would win that race ??? do you think it would depend on the driver or what ??

I dont know about a 2G TL, but I have a 3G TL and i raced a S2k once, with just intake, and I have a intake... I got spanked.... The S2000 was just pulling and pulling on me. The HP to weight ratio is no comparision.

Rolling start only helps the S2000. It has such little initial torque.

If you visit the S2k forums, they talk about how a rolling start is the only chance they have against stock Lancer Evo's (the AWD kills off the line).

Here you go guys. This is an 05 S2000 vs. 04 G35 Coupe. Both are 6 speeds. Mind you just since you are trying to compare an TL vs. an S2000 how bad ass this little Honda is.

The G35 Coupe has: 280HP and 270lbs Torque

The S2000 has : 240HP and 162lbs Torque

The TL 6 Speed has: 270HP and 238lbs Torque

Now the G35 has more HP and More Torque and still couldnt pull on the S2000 either from a roll or a died stop. Why do you think I love the Rotary Engine in my RX8. It just keeps reving and reving and reving!

Heres the Video: 05 S2000 vs. 04 G35 Coupe (Warning: 10MB video so hopefully most of you have Broadband)

NICE VIDEO!!!! I wouldn't have thought the s2000 would walk the G35....but it looks like as long as the take-off is even, and the driver can shift fast the s2000, the s2000 takes it everytime.

Mind you the g35 has a passenger filming the whole thing... that exrta weight might be the clincher on some of those highter speed runs...60+

True but it shows you how much weight makes a difference.

I was thinking the same thing, but after watching the video over and over, the s2000 has I/E and suspension, the G35 is completly stock with an extra passenger.. Yes the 2000 walks away, but by no means destroys the G35.

I'd love to see the scales leveled out a little more, get a CAI, Exhaust and Suspension for the G35, AND pop another person in the s2000... Then that would be damn near even... Opinions?

actually if the G35 had I/E and suspension and there was only the driver in both cars it would probably be dead even or the G35 would win by a nose because of all that torque.

Didn't know suspension had that much to do with straight line performance. LOL OK, lets say it didn't have any suspension or I/E work. It would have a been a drivers race. Right? But that's straight line, add corners and the G35 is getting it's ass whipped!

Look at this. This is a stock RX8 in England(which has less HP then the models here in the US) and look how it hangs with a Porsche 911 Carrera S. Though the Porsche pulls a little on the straights, look how well the RX8 hangs with it's in the corners. Now we're talking about a high dollar car that's known for performance and pumps out 355HP and 295lbs of Torque. Ahh I love my RX8
.

05 s2k have bigger motors...2.2 liter instead of 2.0
and because of this motor, they dropped redline down to 8k

the rx-8 was built to handle, it seems very light...but the 911 was built more for power than handling
