rust

ok.... is it just me or when i look under my car or certain parts of it, i just see a lot of rust. bunch of stuff is just randomly rusted.....

how long do you think these piece of unprotected, non-coated metals will last before it just cracks on us.....

i dont see why acura couldnt coat these metal pieces or do something so that it doesnt rust....

i dont have anywhere in particular that i have pics to show you, but if you get under your car on a bright and sunny day and just take a peek, you'll be sure to find some

pop your hood too and look down

I think the underneath, 4 ends near brakes/wheels, etc, used to see more rusts...??

Someone posted a pic before that you could easily see tons of rusts after removing wheels...

That rust on the structure metal isn't going to cause any problems. It's solid steel and although it looks bad, it will never rust thru like a body part.

whats to keep the rust from going all the way thru? i mean it is a single piece of metal. its not like there is an inner layer of coating to stop the rust from going thru.

and there isnt a coating on those parts that is just rusting. its the actual part itself

That is normal believe it or not, no matter the car, even BMWs, or Mercs, heck I bet if you look at the undercarriage of a Bently, some parts will have rust coating on them.

Wipe dirty oil on the parts that arent coated every once in a while. Learned this in auto class, it sticks really well and prevents rust.

Odd as it sounds this is the trick. I once had a Saab that I kept SO clean underneath that the floor rotted out. All the other Saab nuts out there said they never saw anything like it since most other owners never cleaned the underside and the "blowback" from oil leaks (old cars here) would act as rustproofing.

I've even heard of people really oiling up the undercarriage (sounds like it feels good ) before each winter especially in the northern states.
