Running Fogs W/ out Headlights using Stock switch?

I have a 3000K HID kit I want to install as Fogs in my 06 style headlights. I want to rewire the fog lights so they are completely independent of the headlights but are still controlled by the OEM switch. I have searched and searched all I see is the DRL module which does not solve my problem and suggestions on running a separate switch. Please tell me someone has rewired the the HID/FOG wiring allowing for independent operation?

I would like to know as well. Just for the hell of it.

Why do you need a separate switch anyway?

I have done something similar.
Only difference is that I do not have fogs... I have DRLs instead.

Don't know how much different it is from the American TL since the DRLs get turned on automatically with the engine and turned off when the lowbeams are on.

I've managed to get an independent switch allowing me to turn on/off my DRLs whenever I want. Only issue for me is that I have a DRL light in my display now.
I can try to write you a DIY tomorrow...

?? I dont want a separate switch I want to use the OEM foglight switch but I want it to function on/of regardless of if I have my headlights on or not.

Not sure doesn't sound the same, all you have to do to accomplish what you did is wire a switch between the power of your DRL correct? I need to most likely rewire where my fog lights get its switched power from. Currently I imagine it is switched or powered from a relay off the headlight circuit. I could figure it out i'm sure going through the wiring diagrams but it seems like someone would have done this already.

Yeah that's pretty much it. But there were a few other things that I needed to do to get it working properly.

The fogs most likely do have it's relay powered from the lows. The first time I did my lights... I set it up that way. My DRLs came on only with my lows.
If you can locate the relay and get it's power from something than you should be good to go.

Yup I agree should be pretty simple I'll wait and see if someone can chime in with a DIY before I go searching through the wiring diagrams

Yup read through those threads as well no resolution to what I want to do it looks like the only possible option is to tap into the switch directly at the switch before it goes into the control module then run the switch off a relay and the accessory of your choice. Wish I didn't have to be the guinea pig on this one I find it had to believe this hasn't been done!

I did this so long ago I don't remember in detail. Basically, I sent a ground signal to the fog relay via an additional switch. This bypasses the Fog module. Cool thing is, it's easily removable to go back to stock, and doesn't mess with the factory wiring at all. I remember using the OEM switch would have took much, much more time. The combination switch wiring is not quick & easy to get at. But, it's very do-able.

The o6- TLs don't have DRLs [unless it's a Canadian model].

The lower fogs in the o7+ should have similar wiring to the o6- upper/inner fogs.

What if I bought an 07 Type S front bumper with the stock fogs. Would it be hard to wire a switch up to those two new fogs?

Run a wire from the ground at the stock switch the the ground on the fog light relay. Very easy to do, but you just have to remember to turn off the fogs because they wont automatically shut off w/o the switch. But that would be the case if you put in a seperate switch anyway. Just did this on my TL and works perfectly.

wiring fogs with an independent switch is cake but we are getting off topic here a DIY for that can be found in the garage.

No, I'm wondering why did they even include the little switch next to the headlights switch.
