RPMs dropping at WOT

This happened to me 2 times till now. I have a 5AT TL-S and when im going WOT on third gear at around 6k the rpms drop to 5.5k and start climbing back up. Third gear is long so you can really feel the rpms dropping for a sec. All the other gears work smoothly. I have CAI and ATLP Cat-Back. Should I be worried?

itz the torque converter.... lock-up/semi lock-up stage.... at 6k rpm... itz slipping.. semi lock-up... then when it locks up.. both input and output moves at the same speed.. which drops it back down to 5.5k....

Sounds out. I'd offer to test mine, but 6,000 rpms in 3rd is like 80+ mph, right? I need some clear freeway and won't see that for the next couple of days, at least.

could definatly be the torque converter. Was it damp out at all when these problems occured or dry weather?

It was at around 6pm after work when the sun was going down. I would say around 75 degrees.
Cant really remember the first time that it happened.

depending on the actual situation, this can be normal. I won't worry too much about it...

you will see if more often.. even at slower speed.. if you cruise 60mph on 5th.. then add throttle, sometimes u will see the needle drop a bit then come back up..

as long as u are not getting Tranny issues (flashing D) you should be fine

not to sound like a dick but... could it be the car shifting from 3rd to 4th cuz I mean you didn't specify you were in ss mode

One would hope it would drop more than 500 rpm if that was the case.. But, a relevant question.. :-)

thats what i am thinking all along... but dun worry.. wait until monday... i will check it with my friend in Honda.

coz it is more common to see it starting at maybe 3.5k(semi lock up) and just jumps to 4k(lock-up) when u are accelerating.

but maybe because of the high rpm it can do the reverse.
