Roof Rack

I know this is a over talked about subject and yes i have been searching answers but i just want a direct answer.

Im looking for a roof rack for my tl for my snowboards. Im going to gatlinburg in december and i need to take them with me but i also will have luggage and 3 passengers so roof rack will be the only option.

I am scared to death to scratch my paint in any way so i want a rack thats definitely padded but also easily removable being that i will only need it occasionally. I dont want to spend a ton of money either but i plan on keeping this car for a while and ill need a rack.

No i cant slide them through the center compartment and no i dont want my passengers holding them lol ive seen that response multiple times on here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated though.

Thanks,
Connnor

I have a roof rack that I use in the winter for snowboards and used to use for bikes but have since added a hitch (better fuel economy). I used clear self adhesive film that is used as a clear car bra alternative and cut it to fit under the roof rack mounting points worked pretty well. This can be bought off of eBay. I have a Thule rack which is pricey but the quality is top notch. Will have to see if I can post some pictures for you later.

Finding one used would be the best bet id assume. Do the feet already have padding or are they just metal? Ive never had a removable roof rack so im not for sure on how these work.

But yes, pictures would be great

Yes each of the bars feet are made of rubber and the hooks that clamp to the inside of the door frame are covered in rubber. Here's some pictures, I don't have one with the snowboard rack handy.

The clear bra is a smart idea. Good thinking!

Thanks! It worked pretty well but now I am looking for the 3M stuff to get a better seal on the edges.

Finally got some pictures with my snowboard rack on my TL it's getting to be that time of year in WI!. I got this rack because it extends out for easy loading, it can hold 4 snow boards.
