Ron Jon ..... have ya seen this??

Hey everyone! Greets to the peeps from a long time lurker and newly joined member .....
I was wondering if anyone had noticed the "obvious" RJ body kit being sold on Ebay under the name of Super Auto Salon? They are saying these are custom made by "them" and are selling them @ roughly 1300.00 shipped. They even have pics of of a TL with not only the kit, but also the wheels installed. Does RonJon know about this or are they somehow affiliated? I was under the impression they were exclusive about mfg/sales.
If anyone's curious, the user name on Ebay is Superautosalon .

FYI, I am a soon to be owner of an '06 TL/NBP/Qtz/6MT!! The RonJon kit also will find it's way onto this car ...... soon!

Someone let me know if I'm off base with this Ebay deal .......

Cheers -

I was thinking the same thing. Called Ron this morning to advise him and sounds like he'll take care of it on his end.
I like the exclusivity of the RJ body kit and would hate to think you could pick them just anywhere ....... it's all about bein' unique.

Cheers.

Not only it is Ron's kit, but the pics are Ron's. If you check out the seller's page, they also have Ron's kit for the CL (with pics of Ron's car!).

Actually, since the phone call to Ron earlier today; the other auctions showing the kit under the same user name have since been taken down. Also, the earlier auctions were showing the kit's "Buy it Now" price as 1099.00 w/ 199.99 shipping. The BIN price has been changed to 1500.00 and is the only auction showing. Take a look at the feedback of the company selling these ...... no way I'd touch that one

Cheers.

alright, here we go...

shortly after looking over the ebay auction, i sent the seller a 'general question' and it went like this...

at 12:52pm central time, i sent the following message to the seller thru ebay...

was it hard to crop and blur out RonJon's logo in those pictures?
because you did a piss poor job of doing so...did you think you
could fool someone with those stolen pics? you put them in
photoshop, slapped your gay name over it, cut out and blurred
his logos, and called it yours...consider your account terminated
b/c i'm about to have ebay's security team all over your azz...

at 3:06pm central time, i received this response thru ebay on the seller's behalf...

eBay sent this message on behalf of an eBay member through My Messages. Responses sent using email will not reach the eBay member.

Per your request, the auction has been cancelled. Thank you for making eBay a safer trading community.

at 3:19pm central time, i received this response from SuperAutoSalon's Customer Service...

Per your request, the auction has been cancelled. Thank you for making eBay a safer trading community.

SuperAutoSalon's email to me was basically a forwarded message that they received from ebay, which was the same email i was sent from ebay...and as you've probably noticed before i posted this, the auction has been closed...

I tried to ask the seller a question but the item was already pulled. What a dumbshit to think they could get away with that.

What a dumbass. The flat-rate shipping was a ripoff, too. I hope their account is pulled, Ron went to a lot of trouble and spent his own money in the design of those kits.

Bastards.

As bad as this is, I feel this is a testament to Acurazine members and their ability recognize an offical vendors product!

When I talked to Ron this morning he was really surprised to have been told about this. The only thing this seller ripped off (apparently) was everything BUT the design. I sure as hell would have been pissed to see my design being sold as someone else's!

Good catch! It's good to see that some people out there care about businesses who are trying to help others out with customizing cars. A lot of people might have just said, "sucks to be ron." (I'm not one of those people by the way). It's good that someone, or in this case multiple someones had the balls to stand up to those cheating bastards! Makes me even more proud to be associated with the acura community!!

I guess I am the only one who doesnt get it? Dude was just reselling the RonJon kit but not revealing the source, right? Shit...this is typical ebay at its best? Why would Ron give one crap about it....so long as they are buying the kit from him? Fact is...its just more distribution for him...again...so long as they are purchasing the kit from him, right? Now...I dont see anywhere in here where they actually SAY that this is a kit THEY manufacture, or am I missing something? Now that fact the price seems pretty far below what RonJon is selling them at his site for is another thing (I really dont know what they sell for in group buy or something)...leads me to believe that this may be either stolen goods out of an import container from a dock or shipping yard or possibly kits Ron sold in good faith to the distribution segment and they either dumping them from stock or selling them far below the retail cost that they should be sold at. I guess the guy could have ripped the design and be remaking them...but I doubt it. I dont know though...seems like typical ebay to me? Either way...not sure this is the red herring everybody is making it out to be...just somebody trying to make a buck? (and cant be much at that given the cost they are offering here compared to Retail on Rons site) Now if indeed this is a knock off kit...thats another thing...but my guess is that its stolen goods or dead stock somebody is dumping...or stock somebody is selling below market cost, which in turn..Ron would just cut them off and that would be the end of it. I am not sure of Rons business model given the growth of his company....so this could just be a result of that and stock floating around...or again..stolen stuff. Either way...Ron should know...no doubt...but not sure they guy was ripping anybody off on the outset. I mean...do you see Kroger selling Kroger Pees and telling you that they are actually Stokley Van Camp Pees or whatever...no. Doesnt happen. This is the typical ebay small fry trying to hide something that is obvious given the popularity of the kit....or again...am I missing something here totally?

PS...not knocking ya at all or the info...good find totally! Just for the sake of friendly debate though...is this a big departure from the norm on ebay?
