Ridgeline for a TL 6 speed
I posted before my story about how I traded my 2004 TL 6 speed for a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. I mentioned to both the sales staff as well as Acure -TL.com that my wife drove a loaded TSX. So when the Honda dealer called for a payoff on my car they took the numbers for the TSX as both cars are in my name. 2 days after the deal is done I receive a call from the Finance manager stating "So you want us to turn in your lease for you?" I said that the deal was a trade, you bought the car. "Well you know that you are responsible for the remainder of the lease." To make a long story short the dealer screwed up and now they want another $5500. It aint gonna happen. The best I'll do is give them the TSX and $1000 and take my TL back. Any suggestions on other ways we can resolve this? Can I just say oh well too bad? I'm afraid they wont payoff my TL.

Wow, sounds like a good mess. It will probably come down to what the paperwork says on your sales contract for the Ridgeline. What is listed as the trade? What is the VIN #?

I can bet that the dealer is not going to eat $5,500. So, they got the pay-off for the TSX and not the TL. Could be an honest mistake if they are same year and in your name.
Sounds like the TSX is a lease?

The other thing to remember is that you signed a finance contract on the TL saying you would pay for it. If the dealer sends the bank or whomever is holding your title a check for the payoff - $5500, the dealer isn't going to get the title and you are still responsible for making payments. You will however be significantly closer to payoff of the TL. But again you have probably signed another finance contract for the Ridgeline.

Done so that means you took delivery of the ridgeline and gave them the keys, etc to two vehicles? Two days later they said that there is a payoff figure?
All costs based on the deal should be discussed and disclosed before anything is signed and delivered. And your name is on the lease so you have a contract with the company that leased you the car. if you got miles on the ridgeline now and even if you do not. It is considered used when there was an owner.

I haven't spoken to the Finance manager who was in the process of getting back to me regarding a resolution but I still plan to offer the TSX and $1000

well it all sounds weird whatever you might want to offer you have signed contracts from the sound of it and you can be held to those... Unless that is the dealer wants to resolve it but they are not going to eat it on the deal...

I guess that sounds fair, hope you are happy.
I'm not a laywer but understand that if there is a material mistake in a contract that it is voidable. That would have just put you back in the TL though.

Terms are terms, I'm sure it's all spelled in black and white, where you upside down or something?
How do you like Ridgeline? I am a bit interested in getting once since they have a 3.5 V6 and a 5000 towing capacity.
