Ricer??

Ricer??
So yeah, my car got called a ricer this weekend. I was at VA beach, across the street from Hall Acura. I was leaving the parking lot and this old green Lexus was coming in. Two teenage kids were in the car and the passenger made the comment as soon as the 2 cars were side (his) by side(mine). I just ignored it, they were just haters.
My "cosmetic" mods visible:
Aspec front and back spoiler
Aspec Gunmetal rims
rear lip spoiler
color-matched cleared headlights w/ halos
painted silver Acura Letters in front
relocated front plate to teh OEM tow hook.
How can it be a ricer? Bunch of haters!!!

yup, 2 teenage kids, I am not familiar with Lexus but it is definitely not the nice body style, maybe late 90s or so.
I will post some pics as soon as I get home. I was driving all weekend, racked up around 1k miles in 3 days, so the car is not clean.

Ricer mods are tasteless, tacky and serve no purpose. Your car definately does not sound like a stereotypical ricer car. That said I am not a fan of the halos on Acuras but I would not call them a ricer mod per se. I guess the ACURA fill ins in the front could be considered slightly ricerish, but I have them as well and I like mine so yeah, lol. Anyways it sounds to me like some teenagers hatin because they are driving an old busted Lexus.

I was told that my car looks like a drug dealers car... I guess I rather be a drug dealer then a ricer. I don't think that your mods are ricey though.
Maybe you could get some of those hood scoops to rice it out...

lol TL's are ricey compared to old Lexi, so maybe they have a point
That said, I would take offense as well. I'd say it's even rather difficult to rice out a TL - a testament to the great factory design elements of our cars

plus the white halos, same as what other TLs here have.
The Painted Acura can be removed anytime (nail polish remover), I just tried it. Never would I want my car be tagged ricer. I like the halos, if that was the only mod I have aside from the Aspec.

silent TL: nah, those d00ds were way outta line. Looks very clean and great color scheme! The silver 'Acura' stands out just enough w/out being overblown
lol good point

i think most of the ones that are riced out probably go banned because they couldn't take a litte constructive critism and spazzed out

lol good eye
I would have to say its the magnet thing under the side marker and probably the relocated plate are the 2 things that stand out the most as to why they called you a ricer. Anyways I would say your car looks nice and definately not riced out.

I believe the definition of a ricer is officially 'A vehicle that has cosmetic enhancements that do nothing to improve performance'. Basically...it looks fast but it's slow as shit.
Your TL looks great, man. Don't worry about it; they're just jealous punks.

Rice; Ricey (noun, adj): 'visual or aural (i.e. fartcans) modifications which detract from the vehicle's overall presense, or in some way depart from the vehicle's intended niche (i.e race suspension on an econobox)'
If you have tasteful visual mods that make your car look fast even if it isn't, that's called 'poseur' or some variant thereof.

it look stock! Sometime people that don't know the meaning of ricer thinks people that drives hondas and acuras are ricers even doe the car is stock. My civc (avatar) has been called riced before but it wasn't. All you have to do is open you door step out and deck his ass in the face like how we do it.

Who cares?
Sooner or later you gotta do what you want and not give a s**t what other people think. If you spend all you're time worrying about whether everyone likes what you like, you'll end up chasing your tail and being miserable.

i dunno about it looking stock. looks pretty mean to me and i mean that in the best way possible. stock tl makes me think luxury sedan. this car makes me think "if this car were in jail with the other bad cars, this would be the car raping other cars in the showers"
also mean that in the nice way.

Thanks guys and I appreciate all the inputs. My goal for the car is to have fun with it and keep as much resell value of it high. The mods mentioned above are understandable (painted Acura letters and the plate relocation), they are mostly cosmetic. I wanted to try it out and be a little different here in VA/MD/DC, anyways, they are very cheap mod to me. Cost me about $8 for the screw and a small touch-up paint from Autozone.
