Rice or Nice... LED Fog light strip

So bought this light strip and dont know if I found a home for it? Ill have to buy another one but I'm up in the air if I like it or not. If they were crazy bright I would do it, but it really isnt that bright... So does it look cool?

Let me know what you think.

I used my jumper pack to power it. That's not how I plan to run it in the future.

If it was a lot brighter than it would look 10x nicer, but it doesnt look to bad as is. Theres no way to mount it behind the bottom grills, that might look pretty hot.

it doesn't look that bad at all. i can't say i actually like it; but i definitely don't hate it.

if it were too bright, it kinda makes the car look even more like a transformer.

i wonder how well it'll stay on the bottom dam during harsh weather

Its really really hard to take pictures of lights... I had to play with the exposure so it didnt look like a white line... They aren't dim, but they aren't blinding bright.

yea i've been staring at the pic for a while now;

this is definitely not rice. it's more like do i want my car to look like a huge face towards oncoming cars at night or not.

this would look SOOOOOO amazing with the demon eyes and the two strips on the bottom at night.

An new Audi came at me yesterday and I got to thinking about a mod like you have done. The Audi uses less lights and in a curved pattern but I like what you've done. A curve wouldn't really fit the TL. I'd be curious what less lights spaced a bit further apart would look like.
Please post more details about what you did/where you got the parts.

Man my pictures suck...

SR-71: Thanks... Thats kinda what I was going for.

Wanderer: It is brighter than the pictures appear... But there is no way for me to quantify it. I'm sure you can mount it behind it... But it works really really well in the front. The aluminum light bar is the same thickness and overall length as the groves in the front dam. Add a slight curve to it and zip-tied it as a quick test. I think I would epoxy it in

JCL: They are waterproof... But I think it would suck if 1 led went bad.

RBP: I may have to order them.. Alot of positive feedback.

The only thing that I was planning on doing is painting it black (except little holes for the light).

Here is the product link: http://www.oznium.com/home-smd-led-bar

Here is another picture that doesnt really show how bright they are... But it kinda shows the fit. (think about how bright your lights are at that angle)

Not bad at all. Can you put a piece of electrical tape over every other LED and take another pic? Let's see what it looks like with less lights. I'm thinking it might give a more "accent lighted" look.

Another member tried something similar last year.....I dunno, on the fence on this one. I like it but I don't like it. Someone has to try this in the headlight ala Audi. There's something new nobody has tried. There's a project for ya Kracker, I see you haven't cleared your headlights yet......

i like'm. I plan to do it slightly different. This is about the only mod I can afford right now.
Someone in the 2G forums tried it but their bumper isn't set up like ours. Theirs would be better in the actual headlight. I want mine to have more of the concept car effect. You might be able to see in in my avatar. I say keep'm and work it out

I think it would look really good if they the led's were angled so they run parallel to the headlight housing. Can someone photoshop this from the original pics?

Oh No!!! a TL has become the next KITT!!
I can see the red bar moving back and forth in front now~

Since those you have are really for making your car more visable- not for putting light on the ground you can actually use to drive by----
In serious fog- what about yellow or white strip on the front
and a yellow or red across the back
So anyone flying up behind you spots the LED from a greater distance than 30 feet before the impact,
or coming at you on a smaller road-can see you before turning left in front of you.
they will still turn in front of you,,, but the blaring horn will be less of a mystery to them, maybe

I have seen led strips in many colors and lengths- most of it cuttable with normal tools to custom size for motorcyles and other uses
look on th ebay or search for LED for motorcycles or cars on the net
try led accent lighting 12volt

Most have good double sided tape to hold onto the surface-
clean the paint with rubbing alcohol to remove all wax- then tape sticks good.
Thats whats holding the acura and TL badges on your trunk!

doesn't look too bad, but has anyone thought of the legality? i've been pulled over for having my turn signals stay lit on my old skool accord!

doubt it's legal but it looks cool!

I think they look great!! Not too bright, nice and subtle. If you don't already have fogs, these are a nice replacement. Those would also be great as trunk lights, replacing the bulb in there.

Its funny you mention this. JnC is actually making me some cleared/blackened headlights with an LED bar in them. Different type of led look but same concept. Should look quite nice

Kracker,

Go for it...do it on the front grill AND the back grill (between the 2 exhausts) too.

Just 1 so far. I ordered 1 more just now. So all in all I will use 2. I bought the "white" lights.

They are attached via zipties for now... We will see how it it changes.

For the other request from people that have TONS of posts I will be taking more pictures tonight. Every other light, shorter, every other light shorter. I also will move it up and down on my car so those of you with mad PS skills can play more...

Coy, good question. There is a sheriff that lives down the street, if I see him Ill ask. I don't really see how it could be illegal with the 35 seconds if thought I put into it..

not too bad! i'm kind of liking it...
have you considered putting them BEHIND the small portioned grill at the bottom? give it that discreet look - turn them on when you "need" them maybe? just a though

I am currently playing around with it... It might end up being behind it, but I want to say that its a lot of work to get those grills off.

7-10 days Ill get the other side and put it in...

Kracker, I'd get the ones that are posted above, you can get them from ebay in different lengths. Those are exactly the ones that I'd be isntalling in 3zero's headlights. Reason why I suggest them is because they are completely enclosed and also are very thin and bright .

Got them here: http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips

There is a newer vertical version but only in blue. My was white..which had a tint of blue..which was what i was looking for.

They are 100% water proof, i had my on for atleast 3 months or more..i dont recall. I had a few people look at them when i park my car and get gas. I have a kill switch hook up to it, so i can turn on and off. Its hooked up to my fuse, so when i open my door when the engine is off...they turn off.

Oh yeah, that site is great for LEDS lover. They are about same price as ebay. This is one site that i would recommend to you guys.
