I got some 42 SMD LEDS for my reverse lights, they suck they don't do anything is this typical? are LEDs bad for reverse lights?

 

Get the 'cree' style.

If you have a navigation + back-up camera DO NOT BUY "Cree LED" style....

 

Cree style LED is what you need.

 

I'd be curious to see the new VLED Triton's in reverse. I currently have 5 watt CREEs and they suck compared to the 7 watt CREEs I had in my last vehicle, I'm probably gonna swap them out soon. Moral of the story is the 5 watt ones are too dim.

 

Ya I don't have the navi. Does Cree make the ones that have the projector type thing on the end with LEDs on side also ? I saw cool ones like that on amazon but reviews said weren't like that but that seems like a good idea

 

Have you guys gone on vleds.com recently looks they are launching a new bulb that looks like the crew style minus the projector. But it doesn't say the wattage

 

The Tritons are extremely bright but I would say they are overkill for reverse lights, especially for the price.
