I took my TL in for recalls and the 3rd gear replacement and they are keeping it while they wait parts to replace the reverse gear and syncros? Anyone hear of this? According to my rep this is a new bulletin?

Good to hear someone else is having it done as well. Your probably waiting on the backorder of parts too.

Any possibility of someone digging up the TSB Bulletin for this repair?

 

its how transmissions are put together and what gear shafts interact- synchros are normal item to replace on a rebuild and they may have better ones being made- so on backorder,
Ask for a loaner car~

 

look in the gen3 thread list- there is one there with all the tsb's - refreshed each month as soon as they are released

 

Im already in a loaner from the end of June. Just wasnt sure if my dealership was bs me on this repair or not.

 

no tsb for it.....my techs been telling me its going for a long time.....so the 3rd gear tsb will solve the reverse because im having the tranny replaced.....i told him if he rebuilds it and puts it back in... he can keep it lol.

 

Whats funny is that, the other night in NYC while I was pulling out of one of those Parking Garages, my car was parked on a heavy incline so when I put it into reverse I heard a huge and very loud BANG! Everyone in the car was like wtf was that! Nothing else happened and the car operated normally after that so I dont know what to make of it and now I see this thread... is it somehow related?

I had the 2nd gen TL before this and I knwo they were infamous for their tranny failures.

a very loud bang is never a good thing ...LOL, drive over to ralleye and have them look at it. just dont let them con you into buying anything from them.

 

im in an 07 TL-S and i took mine in to get the 3rd gear synchro replaced...service manager said it would take up to 2 weeks to receive the part...

 

make sure they do the power steering hose and wiper motor recalls while they have your car~

 

my car makes a funny sound when i put it in R also...

 

ac if ur car is Auto then its a normal honda characteristic..... they will fix it if u bring it in...ive had a few acuras and they all do it.
