Hey all:
Those of you with the service manual, is there any information in there about resetting the drive by wire system?

Couldn't understand. Why?
You like to re-train your TL to learn how you drive?
Hopefully there is the better way to do it besides to disconnect the battery...
I expect this car's ECU is smarter than others'.

I hope my meter can be reset, too. After next Monday, my holiday season is over. Working hard will be necessary. Just try to use my quota in advance...

I figured since I babied the car as it was breaking in, the driving style's not quite like how I would normally drive a car. I've noticed the shift from 1st to 2nd is abnormally rough and I wonder if it's a result of its learning my driving style.
I have a 5AT btw.

TO mrtech,
Unable to be reset is fine. Just feel I should join this forum as early as 2000... I have to make up a deficiency of those past years, too. So you won't feel that number is too big.
TO Lore,
For my experience, when test-driving in the first day, I felt 04TL has the slow start than regular cars, I thought it's caused by DBW. When driving my own 04TL for a week, I feel my car is accelarating slower than my 94 Legend, maybe DBW and my slow break-in habits. After my father test-drives, he said my 04TL is not as powerful as his MB500, his car is really better. Finally, after the dealer uploads the new patch to fix my MIL issue, I have better start and acceleration, SIDE EFFECT. LOL.

Well, the acceleration on my TL is fine, but I don't like its harshness shifting from 1st to 2nd when I'm accelerating from a stop light at a moderate level. (For example, when I'm behind 4 cars and the road is a 35 mph road -- I do not need a jackrabbit start in this situation) I thought this might have something to do with the way I trained it during the first 600 miles so I'm a little curious as to whether resetting it would help it relearn my driving techniques.

Understand. After the update, usually, my 1->2 will shift at 8-12 MPH, and it will be at 15-25 MPH under the hard acceleration. If you just slightly pedal it, does your TL still shift harshly from 1 to 2? I mean no matter how you kick the pedal, your 1st to 2nd is always so roughly accelerating?
Wish some one can give the hint soon.

rets:
No, it's only really rough when I'm gently driving (like in my 'behind 4 cars' situation). Otherwise, it's noticeable but not harsh during hard acceleration.

Check Engine Warning and Software Update
Status of Check Engine Light and Memory Seat Fixes, good news and ok news
MIL mean "Malfunciton Indicator Lamp" or "Check Engine Light" on... SOME of early built car, maybe before 12xxx, their check engine light will be on/flashing when revving over 4.5k RPM...
BTW, do you have Lost Seat Memory issue? Thanks...
