Falken Tires

So there I am, ready to get the Bridgestone LS-Z tires, and I read Consumer Reports (that rag that rated the TL #1). They rated the Falken Ziex #1, the LS-H #2, and the Potenza 950 #3. They didn't rate the Azenis ST115.

The Falken was rated as quiet and better riding than the Turenza. The Turenza manuvered the handling course better. The Falken braked better and had higher hydroplaning resistance.

So, are these really better than the Bridgestones? They are literally half the price, even less than half the price. And unlike the car, I they are actually made in Japan.

Are these the sleepers? Are the Azenis ST115s even better for those of us that use snow tires in the winter?

I have had the Ziex 512's on my wife's BMW and they were good- maybe not great - handling and quiet. They are a heck of a buy. I am looking at the new ST 115's as they are supposed to be super quiet and yet handle well. I now have the HPT (030's) and they handle well but will not last very long. (You should have seen the rubber "pellets" all over the car after my last mountain trip. ) All and all I have had good luck with Falkens.

I'm loving my 512's so far, but keep in mind that these are not exactly the same as the ones reviewed by CR. That's because CR's definition of Performance Tires is H-rated tires. So the 512's that they loved are H-rated, not W-rated like ours. That can make a significant difference.

I keep hoping for the snow to fall so that I can add to my review, but no luck yet.

Im going to purchase a set of Falken ST-115 for my 19' wheels when they arrive, heard they are the quietest performance tires in the market.
