Replacing Turn signal bulbs

I'd like to get a set of LED turn signal bulbs (looking at VLEDS.COM) and install them myself. I opened up the trunk to see what was involved in replacing the rear bulbs - it looks like I need to remove the 'trunk liner' to get at the tailight housing. How do I remove the liner - is it simply a matter of unscrewing those black round plastic lugs (I guess they are tie down anchors?) and then pulling the liner back?

I didn't investigate getting at the front signals - any idea what's involved there?

Thanks guys.

The procedure for replacing the front and rear turn signal bulbs is in the owner's manual.

www.vleds.com sells LED replacement bulbs. Here is the page that lists the bulbs for the TL: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...RG-Results.htm

Bumping an old thread again...
According to this, both the front and rear turn signals are 7443 "dual filament" bulbs.

The fronts are orange and come on as running lights when the lights are on, then flash a brighter orange for signal.

The rear signal/markers DON'T come on with the ligths as tail lights, but only server as signals... why the need for dual filament here?

Could this be a typo, and the rear bulbs be 7440, single filament bulbs?

Need to know, because it affects my selection of LED to go in the rear.

Was thinking about these LEDs from autolumination for the rear signals:

You're going to need (a) resistor(s), otherwise they'll hyperblink.

If I have a red housing lens, should I get LED that is white or red?

I haven't seen any. But i'm assuming you may not find them or that they won't last as long. The resistor needed gives off a decent amount of heat and needs to be a decent size to handle the power dissipation.

If you're going with LED's get red otherwise your turn signals will appear pinkish in color.

agree either load resistors or remove the stock one from the fuse and add a lower ohm resistors <-------this is the best option

Great thread here. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/g-109-diy-eliminate-led-bulb-induced-hyper-flashing-without-load-resistors-815219/

I'll be doing this mod this weekend.

OK so I just purchased new switchbacks to replace my old switchbacks. It's been well over a year since I've replaced my turn signal bulbs and I forgot how to do it. Do I have to turn the wheel and than pull the fender lining down to access the turn signal bulbs? I purchased my vehicle used and do not have a owners/service manual.

Do I have to un clip and clips or undo any screws? I can't believe I did this not too long ago and already forgot...

on the front you just have to turn the wheel pull the fender liner down and you should have easy access on the passenger side, a lot of people remove the battery for the drivers side i believe. Or just take off the whole front bumper and do it quickly and easily

Pretty sure you have to pull the fender liner down to get at the front ones. I had to replace one last winter, and I don't remember exactly but I think I had to. You can take a look under the hood of course to see if you can get it. It'll be easy to tell.

Thanks fellas. It's really simple and only takes 10 minutes to do for both sides. After eating dinner at TGI Fridays I decided to give it a try in the parking lot before leaving. All you have to do is turn the steering wheel and remove 1 plastic clip using a flat head. Once that clip is removed you can pull the lining back and reach up with one arm and untwist the turn signal from its socket.

Replaced my 6k switchbacks with 5k switchbacks, couldn't be happier. Now to mod my side markers to be 5k..
