Maybe you shouldn't be going near 100 on public roads in the first place.

Unless this is strictly for the drag strip or track, I'm not going to tell you!

The TL won't hit 100 in 1/4 mile completely stock, will it?

If Fast and Furious has taught me anything, it's that shifting gears every two seconds will get me up to 100 in 1/8 mile!

Not sure what to tell you. I have set the cruise at 138 mph before and jammed out for about 10 miles.

Just don't hit a pothole going that fast.

My governor is set at 150 and she will do it.

It's all about 4th gear vtec. That will put you over 100mph, and leave 2 gears left.

You should be able to get close to 150 in 5th gear vtec for the extra power.

But I do not condone breaking any posted speed limit signs. Follow your local, and state laws while driving.

On a closed course my 5AT TL can go over 100 MPH with ease. I have zero intention of trying to max out it gets a little shakey even before that.

How confident are you that the issue lies within the governor? There could be a small possible chance that you won't break 100 with it removed. Maybe your car is losing power?

No TL has a 100mph top speed limiter. Something is wrong with your car if it won't do more than 100mph.

IIRC all 04-06 models and 07-08 6MT Type-S models are limited by drag to 150-160mph (varies obviously). They do have an electronic limiter, but it's pretty much unreachable in stock form. 07-08 base and Type-S models with the 5AT are limited to 130mph, which is reachable in stock form.

Here's a video of a 5AT base model (the slowest of all TLs) easily breaking 100mph.

You guys are funny....

....but, to answer the OP's question-to remove the governor, doesn't it require a 2/3's vote?

It really bothers me that the 04-06 base TLs can do 150 yet the Type-S AT is limited to 130.

And this whole time I felt like my 04 TL had nothing on the later models...I feel a bit of consolation in that now, even though I will never have a need to go that fast.

Hopefully Innacurate will chime in. I'm sure he's already removed it for weight loss purposes.
