Remote Not Linked

I have a 2007 Type S which I bought recently and the car always locks automatically when driving which I would like to turn off. After research it looks like I need to pair my key (I only have 1) to the car to make modificaitons to the keyless entry settings and after trying a couple different things I see online - no luck. Perhaps I am trying the wrong method to pair it, could someone confirm how to do it? Perhaps this is the valet key but in my experience, valet keys do not have buttons or the same housing as the original key. Thanks!

Trying to utilize Keyless Entry Settings leads to the message: "Customizing Not Available Until Linked To Remote"

Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on your remote until it flashes. That will link and unlink the remote for you to be able to modify/active programmed settings.

While in iginition or not? I tried both but nothing changed, it makes me think maybe I have a valet key but in my history, all valet keys do not have buttons or batteries. What do your valet keys look like?

The valet key is not a remote, it's a grey key.

There's 2 unique ways to link the remotes.
1. Is lock/unlock on remote (to prevent changes in seat/radio settings?)
2. Sync the key to the car via the ignition on/off steps.
